Foreigners are not always so smooth to get a Chinese green card.
Gao Bin and his Russian wife Kalina have lived in Guangzhou for ten years. Kalina got a Chinese green card last year, and they are in the "relative reunion" type. The following conditions are required: be a spouse of a Chinese citizen with permanent residence in Guangzhou; the marriage relationship lasts for 5 years and has been in China for 5 consecutive years before the date of application, and has been in China for at least 9 months each year; and has a stable living security and residence. includes a record of proof of crime among the numerous application materials that need to be submitted. "The biggest headache for us is that has no criminal certificate . We must go to the Russian Consulate in China to handle it, but the library has been closed due to the epidemic." Gao Bin told Jiupai News that he waited for a long time before getting the certificate, "The whole process was quite troublesome and it was very tiring to wait."
A second-tier city Entry and Exit Administration staff member told the media that the materials required to apply for a "green card" are difficult for applicants from all countries. For example, the validity period of no criminal record is only half a year, and it will be invalidated if it exceeds half a year. Many people have to find opportunities to return to their home country before getting it, which is at risk of expired materials.

2018 National Immigration Administration was officially established. According to official data, two months after the National Immigration Administration was listed, it approved 1,881 qualified foreigners to stay in China for permanent residence, which is equivalent to the total number of approvals in 2017.
In June 2017, the Chinese government issued the " Reform Plan for the Facilitation of Permanent Residence Certificate for Foreigners ", and the original "residence certificate" was upgraded to "residence ID card". The embedded chip can be identified through the second-generation resident ID card reading machine, which is convenient for licensees to work and live in China. In the future, in addition to taking the high-speed rail through your ID card, foreigners who stay in China can enjoy the same treatment as Chinese citizens in accordance with the law when buying a house, going to the bank to handle financial business, applying for a driver's license, and registering accommodation. Those who work in China can also enjoy social security and provident fund according to the law.
After the upgrade of the Chinese green card function, it will bring more convenience to the lives of cardholder foreigners. Zhang Yulong, who got a green card, does not need to renew his visa every 5 years, but he found that the Chinese green card has not been widely accepted, and sometimes he still has to show his passport when checking in a hotel. When entering personal information for overseas shopping, he can enter his passport or ID card, but there is no option to provide a "green card". Just in case, he will carry his passport and a Chinese green card when traveling.
When Kalina was applying for a bank card, she also encountered the situation where the other party refused to recognize the "green card". Gao Bin said, "Using a green card to apply for a bank card is more strict than the passport review. Because banks see fewer, a person who gets a green card suddenly comes. They don't know how to open it, and they still have to apply for approval."
