According to the "Asia Express" website, the American "Second Wind" company recently announced the U.S. investment immigration information report under the EB-5 program from 2011 to 2021, and cited statistics from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. According to the report, Tajikistan citizens were granted only 8 investment visas during this period.
EB-5 is a project of the U.S. government to issue immigrant visas to foreign investors. The purpose is to attract overseas investment immigrants to invest in the United States and create jobs. Investment visas under this program are issued annually together with a "green card" (residence permit), which will make it possible to obtain U.S. citizenship after 5 years. Under the program, the amount of investment in the U.S. economy should not be less than $800,000.
It is worth noting that the number of EB-5 visas issued to Russian and CIS citizens in 2021 has dropped sharply. Russian investors were granted only 9 such visas, 3 times less than the previous year and nearly 7 times less than in 2019.
Among the CIS countries, with the exception of Russia, only citizens of Azerbaijan (4) and Armenia (1) successfully obtained such visas last year.
According to sources, the sharp decline in the issuance of EB-5 visas in Russia and CIS countries is due to the closure of consulates and the inefficiency of US Immigration Services in processing applications.
Among the Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan citizens received relatively more U.S. investment visas in 2011-2021 - 5 to 18 per year. From 2011 to 2021, 12 citizens of Uzbekistan, 21 Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan have obtained this visa. The data is unknown.
