According to a Mexican media report on November 10, a tragedy occurred in Salamantino, Mexico on Monday, November 9. A reporter found a human body at a crime scene. When he was preparing to report on the scene, he was brutally killed by armed men.

Salamantino authorities strongly condemned the attackers and asked local, state and federal authorities to identify the suspect. The authorities said in a statement: “The citizens of Salamanca need to feel safe, as do all journalists who risk their lives every day and do noble work.” In a press release, the state attorney general’s office said, They have set up a special murder team to investigate the case. Governor Diego Sinjo Rodríguez Vallejo and the Salamanca Commission both issued statements calling for the authorities to act quickly in addition to condemning the attackers.

This is not the first time a journalist has been killed in Mexico. According to a report by local Mexican media on September 9, a Mexican journalist in Mexico was beheaded in a remote area. He was mainly responsible for reporting crime and violence-related news during his lifetime. The prosecutor stated that the journalist was tortured during his lifetime and was then beheaded by the attacker.

Currently, Guanajuato, Mexico has established a state government agency specifically responsible for dealing with threats and violence against journalists. The committee issued a statement saying that although since 2018, they have handled 30 cases of journalists assaulted. The

committee stated: “We swear that this kind of incident will not happen again in Guanajuato. We call on the authorities to work with us to end this disturbing situation.”
