The trial of Jimmy Lai case will be temporarily scheduled for 40th, and will be held on September 25th next year and will be concluded on November 21 next year.

Deputy Criminal Prosecution Commissioner Zhou Tianxing, Deputy Criminal Prosecution Commissioner of the Department of Justice, said that the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress has not yet accepted the Chief Executive's request for interpretation, and believes that the central government is dealing with it solemnly, so it is necessary to leave it to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress to hold a meeting from December 27 to 30. It is hoped that the court will book another hearing on January 3, 2023, during which the prosecution and defense will submit documents to the court to the relevant defense to apply for permanent termination of the hearing.
Senior lawyer Peng Yaohong said that the Immigration Department has refused to approve Tim Owen's work visa application for Jimmy Lai case, and Tim Owen has now left Hong Kong. National People's Congress may decide not to accept the Chief Executive's request for interpretation of the law. I hope the court can make a trial period today and should not simply wait for the results of interpretation of the law of the National People's Congress.

National People's Congress Standing Committee member Tam Yaozong said yesterday that the National People's Congress Standing Committee meeting has no agenda for interpretation of the law, and the Chairman's meeting has no issues related to Hong Kong, and the specific reasons are unclear. He pointed out that the new National People's Congress Standing Committee meeting will be held from the 27th to the 30th of this month, which is a good opportunity to deal with the interpretation of the law. He believes that it would be better if Hong Kong could solve it on its own.
