European policy and China policy are two important contents in the current US diplomatic relations. For the United States, with the development of the European economy, more and more European countries are trying to break away from the control of the United States to gain greater international voice. With the rapid development of China's economic strength and military strength, the United States' hegemony system in Asia has also begun to gradually shake. Therefore, many Americans are also beginning to imagine whether there is a way to balance the United States' European strategy and its strategy toward China.
Former U.S. Navy Deputy Secretary and Director of the Yorktown Research Institute Seth Kropsey believes that Charles Michel, chairman of the European Council, is about to visit China, is a very bad signal for the United States, which means that Europe's policy toward China begins to gradually become blurred just like the policy toward Russia. More and more Western European countries are unwilling to follow the United States to continue to fight against China with a clear stand because they all have close economic exchanges with China.
Europe's main problems come from France and Germany. Historically, France and Germany have a very obvious tendency to "European autonomy". During the Cold War , in order to gain greater autonomy, France even directly withdrew from the NATO 's consent command organization. After the end of the Cold War, although the United States tried hard to promote its globalization idea to Europe, Europe obviously did not believe in this, which can be seen in many economic policies that Europe has more of its own ideas and is increasingly reluctant to follow the United States' economic policies.
From the Crimean crisis to the current Russian-Ukrainian military conflict, France and Germany have also had strange attitudes. Although France and Germany also provided their own support to Ukraine like the United States, they did not hope that the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict could continue for a long time, but hoped that the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict could end as soon as possible. Even if Ukraine suffered a defeat in the end, it would be acceptable. As long as it did not cause obvious damage to the national interests of France and Germany in the end.
Due to Russian natural gas supply problems, the energy costs of European manufacturing have risen sharply, which has seriously affected the market competitiveness of European companies. In particular, traditional companies in France and Germany have suffered a significant impact. Many Europeans believe that the U.S. sells higher-priced natural gas to Europe, which causes this. But Seth Kropsey believes that this is not the case. The price of natural gas sold to Europe by the United States is not expensive.
As a means of response, Western European countries began to actively improve their relations with China. For example, the German Chancellor Scholz took the initiative to lead a large number of German entrepreneurs to visit China and directly signed a huge cooperation agreement with China, which directly changed the attitude of many Germans towards China. In addition, French President Macron is also constantly trying to contact China, hoping that France can also carry out more in-depth economic cooperation with China. Coupled with the planned visit to China by , Charles Michel, President of the European Council, it is no longer possible for Western Europe to firmly oppose China.
In addition to economic cooperation, many Western European countries have also taken a fancy to China's huge international influence. Especially the in-depth cooperative relations between China and Russia have made many Western European countries firmly believe that if they want to resolve the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine better in the end, China's role cannot be ignored. Now establishing good relations with China and in the future, when solving the Ukrainian issue, China will be able to help achieve a result that will make itself more satisfactory.
Seth Kropsey believes that the United States should no longer focus most of its energy on traditional Western European countries, but should build a more obedient "new Europe". The so-called new Europe is a new system with Eastern European countries such as Poland , Lithuania as the main body. The United States can promote cooperation between "New Europe" and the United States' Asia-Pacific allies such as Japan and South Korea, form an "European and Anti-China Community", and suppress and contain China's development.

At the same time, this can also weaken China's influence in Eastern Europe and avoid Eastern Europe from choosing to cooperate with China as Western Europe in the end due to economic issues.
Next, the United States needs to continue to strengthen this cooperation, preferably to build a defense system for Eurasia cooperation, with Japan and South Korea armed Eastern European countries. In this way, on the one hand, the United States can share the military aid pressure on Eastern European countries. At the same time, after a large amount of arms exported, South Korea and Japan will also have more funds and energy to improve their military strength and help the US military in the Asia-Pacific share the pressure from the People's Liberation Army. It can be said that it kills two birds with one stone.
Seth Kropsey's suggestion is to let the US government directly abandon Western Europe, which has been "disobedient", and then combine the "more obedient" Europe with Japan and South Korea to create a small circle with good strength and willingness to obey its own orders. If you only look at it from a theoretical perspective, this is actually a very good suggestion. But in reality, it is difficult to implement .
The reason is also very simple, that is, Eastern European countries basically have little money. For example, in Poland, after purchasing a large amount of arms, the financial situation immediately arises. The forced Polish government even publicly stated to the German government many times that World War II was not compensated enough, and asked Germany to pay Poland another trillion in World War II compensation. After discovering that it was impossible to gain more benefits from Taiwan Province, Lithuania began to show goodwill to China again, hoping to resume economic cooperation with China.
If the United States wants to build the so-called "Eurasian anti-China community", then it needs to find a country to be the "subordinate" and invest a lot of money to help Eastern European countries upgrade their industries. Moreover, this process is very difficult. Because Eastern European countries actually rely mainly on Russia for industrial energy, Russia obviously will not sit idly by and watch the United States do so randomly at its doorstep. At that time, the cost of industrial upgrading in Eastern European countries will be higher.
In addition, South Korea's attitude is also very important. South Korea is not like Japan. It has always adhered to the principle of "not taking sides" on many issues, such as China's Taiwan Strait issue. In other words, it is very difficult to make South Korea clear-cut anti-China. If only Japan is left, it is impossible to complete the industrial upgrading of Eastern European countries.
Whether it is "new Europe" or "anti-China Eurasian Community", they are actually the embodiment of the idea of "dividing and conquering". After so many years, Americans have not given up their bad habit of disrupting regional situations and breaking the world peace.
