According to Egyptian media reports on November 9, the 8th African Procurement and Fashion Week (ASFW) is Africa's largest fashion, sustainability and innovation platform, and will be held in Addis Ababa from November 4 to 7, 2022. The event gathered exhibitors from Africa, Asia and Europe, attracting more than 5,000 traders.

Ethiopian Ministry of Industry (MoI) and Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) jointly organized it with the theme of " Ethiopian Tamrit", supporting 11 Ethiopian companies to promote and maintain deeper commercial connections between local companies and international buyers within the framework of the sustainable industrial cluster project.

Minister of Industry Melaku Alebel delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He noted, "The Ethiopian government has carried out major reforms and demonstrated support for the textile and garment industry. Despite the challenges, Ethiopian has gained a strong position in the global value chain and remains one of the African countries that provide the largest production capacity, able to meet the quality and quantity requirements of buyers in the international market." Daniel Teresa, vice chairman of the Ethiopian Investment Committee, believes that "Our ambition is to continue our efforts on the basis of previous fair operations, and demonstrate that the Ethiopian institutions and private sectors are committed to uniting to promote the 'Ethiopian Tamrit' model in Africa and other regions. The convenience of reforms in the business, legal and other sectors and opening up more areas to foreign direct investors reflect the government's determination and sincerity to attract more investment and serve the rapid growth of the private sector." During the event, the Ethiopian Investment Committee organized relevant investors to inspect the investment environment of the Ethiopian Industrial Park.

Visitors of fashion and manufacturing, including international investors, brands, wholesales and retailers, will have more opportunities to participate in a series of ASFW conferences, and the event also gathered more than 100 experts in the field and more than 800 attendees.
