On February 1, 2017, Ruan Hongtai heard that a fisherman caught a giant Siamese carp near Mekong River, which weighed 98 kilograms, so he rushed to the fisherman's house to buy it. When he first saw this fish, Ruan Hongtai's eyes lit up because the fish looked very big, and the scales of the fish were dark yellow and glittering, and looked particularly strong.
Then what kind of fish does Siamese carp grow? Siamese carp, also known as giant Siamese carp, is the largest fish in all existing carp fish. It currently only exists in the Mekong section and ranks fifth among all giant fish.
Giant Siamese carp is a Cambodian national fish. Due to overfishing, it has become very scarce. In 2014, a British tourist who traveled to Thailand used a piece of bread as bait and caught a giant Siamese carp weighing 150 pounds. It also broke the world record at that time, but this record is nothing now. With the improvement of the Mekong water resources and environment, many giant Siamese carp are gradually beginning to be discovered.
Among the giant Siamese carp, red Siamese carp is the rarest. Taking the number of captured in the 21st century as an example, there are less than 10 wild red giant Siamese carp.
Ruan Hongtai discussed with the fishermen to buy the fish. The fishermen refused to sell it at first. Later, after Ruan Hongtai's soft and hard work, the fishermen finally made concessions and sold the 98 kilogram fish to Ruan Hongtai for 200 million Vietnamese Dong .
After buying this big fish, Ruan Hongtai airlifted the fish to Hanoi. When the big fish appeared in the display cabinet in Ruan Hongtai's restaurant, it attracted hundreds of curious citizens around. After seeing the big fish, everyone exclaimed bursts of praise.
After Nguyen Hongtai bought the big fish, just two days later, a wealthy businessman from Da Nang City found him and expressed his willingness to bid 300 million Vietnamese dong (equivalent to about 86,000 yuan) to buy the big fish.
However, when Ruan Hongtai heard the price, he refused directly. Ruan Hongtai said that several customers had booked this wild Siamese carp before. He always relied on these old customers to help in business, so there was no reason to give up the frequent customers for the sake of individual customers.
Ruan Hongtai has decided to make big fish into dishes and sell them. The price of fish is 2.89 million Vietnamese dong per kilogram. If you want to eat sliced fish, you will have to spend 3.69 million Vietnamese dong per kilogram, and you have to make an appointment in advance.
Ruan Hongtai said that this giant Siamese carp has a tight and elastic flesh, thin layer and soft bones, and tastes delicious. Some gourmets who can eat and love eating abroad even travel thousands of miles to eat this Siamese carp, just to try it out.
