Not long ago, EU suspended 7.5 billion euros of aid funds to Hungary on the grounds of so-called "democracy is not up to standard" and "corruption". In fact, the international community understands that on the one hand, the West originally believed that Hungarian Prime Minister Orban "is an ally of Putin " and was dissatisfied with his repeated re-elections and felt that it was "undemocratic"; on the other hand, in terms of sanctions against Russia, Hungary also forced the EU to "immunity" to itself with a "veto". The EU's dissatisfaction with this is probably not a little bit. Therefore, it is very easy to understand that the suspension of Hungary’s aid is to stop, and as for the “reason”, it became the second.
It is worth noting that after , the EU re-used the old trick and planned to stop issuing 75 billion aid funds, using this trick to hit Polish , but was refuted by Warsaw . According to reports from Observer Network , recently, the EU accused Poland's ruling party of long-term weakening of the country's "democracy", especially in terms of "judicial independence", which may suspend the issuance of aid funds of up to 75 billion euros to Poland. In response, the Polish attorney general refuted, saying that "such moves in Europe are obviously illegal."
On the surface, the EU "deducted" Poland because the latter "democracy did not meet the standards", but in fact, it is because the EU wants to integrate all member states and make the EU a real "federal state", and "beat" the "thorny country" for this.
The reason why I say this is mainly because the EU "deducts" Poland's fuse, not because the Polish ruling party "weaks" its own democracy, but because as early as 2021, the EU and the Polish government had a fierce quarrel over "whoever is Polish law or EU law first". Polish Constitutional Court even made a ruling in October of the same year, announcing that some content in EU law "violates the Polish Constitution."
In fact, it puts Poland's national laws in a higher position, and also declares that some of the rulings of the European Court of Justice are "not binding in Poland", otherwise it would be an infringement of Poland's sovereignty. The EU was very angry about the Polish government's decision. The President of the European Commission von der Leyen issued a special statement, pointing out that "EU law is higher than the laws of each member state."
In order to punish Poland, the EU decided to freeze " new crown epidemic recovery funds" with a total amount of up to 35.6 billion euros (about 252.1 billion yuan), and starting from October 27, 2021, a fine of 1 million euros was imposed on Poland every day. It can be seen that the differences between the EU and Poland are not at all dissatisfied with the degree of "democracy" in Poland, but on the contrary, they are actually angry that Poland is "too independent".
It is precisely for this reason that the EU has recently raised the weapon of "deducting funds" again, intending to put huge pressure on Poland. On the surface, the Polish government "weaks democracy" is actually forcing Poland to recognize that "EU law is above its own laws". In this way, EU law can be passed through all member states and is higher than the constitutions of each country. Then the EU can become a real "union country" and "independent country" rather than a loose "player club".
In other words, the EU is just trying to carry out "great unification" internally under the banner of "democracy".
It should be pointed out that Poland is not the first target of the EU. Not long ago, the European Parliament issued a "very symbolic" report, claiming that Hungary is no longer a "completely democratic" country; afterwards, the European Commission proposed to suspend the provision of 7.5 billion euros of aid funds to Ukraine, on the surface, because of "worrying to be corrupted by the Hungarian government."
However, it should be pointed out that the situation in Hungary and Poland is somewhat different. Poland is because it places its national constitution above the EU, while Hungary refuses to sanction Russia because it is pro-Russia.But no matter what, the EU's reasons are very "high-end". It always holds the "bank of democracy" and accuses other countries of being "undemocratic", thus occupying the moral high ground, and having to "grasp" financial and public opinion power, which is actually "very undemocratic".
