resolution recognizes the milestone significance of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action in combating racism and racial discrimination, emphasizes the urgent need to fully and effectively implement the international Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and other consensus documents. At the same time, it calls on relevant countries to take action as soon as possible to restore the dignity of victims of racism, and issue laws as soon as possible to prohibit acts that promote national, racial and religious hatred, so as to make a tangible contribution to promoting the resolution of racism.
Previously, after an African-American man in the United States was killed by violent law enforcement by white police, the United Nations Human Rights Council passed the resolution to combat systemic racism for the first time. However, two years have passed, and the racism problem in Western countries represented by the United States has not been alleviated, but has become increasingly fierce. This second collective submission of similar resolutions by African countries has once again become a weather vane reflecting the issue of Western racism and has received support from more and more countries.
China firmly supports the content of this resolution and clearly states our position at the meeting. China believes that eliminating all forms of racism and defending the dignity and rights equally enjoyed by everyone is a reflection of the spirit of the UN Charter and international fairness and justice. Chinese representative did not refute Western countries that voted against them at the meeting, but Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying did not intend to save face for the United States and other Western countries. Her response to Western racism on social media was incisive. Hua Chunying said that the opposition from the United States and a few Western countries can only show that they are unwilling to make a commitment to eliminate racism, let alone take action on racism.This is a great irony for these countries that call themselves "human rights defenders". The United States and other Western countries not only do not resolve the "stubborn disease" of racism in China, but also have always regarded themselves as "human rights defenders", interfering in the internal affairs of other people and creating turmoil and conflict.
