Ruan Xiaojie, a Vietnamese native, lives in Xincheng Township, Xinsheng County, Long'an Province, Vietnam. Ruan Xiaojie is an only child. When he was 2 years old, his family was afraid that he would be too lonely alone, so they bought a little black dog for him to play with. The little black dog is so dark, so his grandmother Ruan Shi'e named him the puppy, called Cuttlefish.

Because of this reason, Ruan Shi'e had an quarrel with her son Ruan Qingheng (Ruan Xiaojie's father). Grandma Ruan Shi'e blamed her son for buying a sick dog and taking it home. Don't die of illness and spread it to her grandson.
However, although the cuttlefish is sick all day long, Ruan Xiaojie had a lot of fun with it and did not dislike the puppy at all. He liked it very much the first time he saw this puppy. He held the puppy all day long and played with it. Whenever he met the puppy, he either kissed or touched it. No matter where he went, Xiaojie would follow the cuttlefish. They could be called inseparable.
Because I saw that Xiaojie was so close to Cuttlefish all day long, my grandmother was worried that Xiaojie would be infected with bacteria on Cuttlefish, so she started to take soap to bathe the Cuttlefish and wipe her body every day. Since then, Xiaojie loves Cuttlefish more. She would eat whatever delicious food she had, and would stick to Cuttlefish all day long.
Xiaojie likes to take cuttlefish to the river bank at the head of the village for a walk. If you see dandelions, you will pick them up and blow them. The cuttlefish will always chase the dandelions that scattered out, while Xiaojie will cover his mouth and laugh.
However, the good times did not last long. After only half a year, Xiaojie fell into the canal and drowned. When he died, he was less than 3 years old.
The few days after Xiaojie passed away, Cuttlefish would always run to the river to look for Xiaojie. In the past, just shouting a few times, and Xiaojie would suddenly jump out of the grass, scaring Cuttlefish, but Cuttlefish found that no matter how hard it screamed, its owner would not come back.
Since then, people have never seen the cuttlefish jumping and wagging their tails in the past. It has become depressed and its eyes are always full of melancholy.
The day when the family members gave Xiaojie a funeral, the cuttlefish followed. When the coffin was buried in the tomb and filled with soil, the cuttlefish jumped down and kept digging out the soil with its claws. Later, after someone took the dog away, the coffin was finally filled successfully.
Two days later, the cuttlefish stayed alone by the river, neither eating nor drinking. On the third day, he suddenly ran to Xiaojie's marble grave to guard, and since then, no matter how wind or rainy it is, it will guard its owner's grave every day.
Because the sun was too sunny, several pieces of skin on the cuttlefish were bald. Later, grandma Ruan Shi'e felt sorry for the cuttlefish, so she built a cover shelf on her grandson's grave to wait until the cuttlefish could not be exposed to the sun.
Occasionally, as long as a stranger approaches his owner's grave, the cuttlefish will become particularly fierce and bark at the other party. Some uninformed people just pass by there and are often frightened by the cuttlefish.
Under normal circumstances, if it wasn't particularly heavy rain, cuttlefish would stay on their owner's grave from morning to night, and would not go home to eat until dinner.
Its head is always facing the tomb head, and the direction of worship is never confused. Because I have been lying for too long, even the marble tombstone is lying out with mottled marks.
Since 2016, cuttlefish have been guarding their owner's grave every day and have been persisting for a full 6 years.
When the cuttlefish lie on the tombstone, it will not scream, but just lie there quietly. But if you observe carefully, you will see that the cuttlefish often has tears in their eyes.

The more I miss my little grandson, the more we love cuttlefish. In the past 6 years, although Xiaojie has passed away, I know he is not alone. Just like before my lifetime, now, my grandson has cuttlefish around him. We have now regarded it as a member of the family. When the cuttlefish dies, I will bury it near Xiaojie's grave to reunite them. I think Xiaojie must think so too.
