The pipeline near of Bornholm Island broke due to unknown reasons, and huge white gas and water splashes could be seen in the waters where the incident occurred; the Danish Maritime Bureau has set the 5 nautical miles of the area where the incident occurred as a "banned area". Unexpectedly, only one day to the 27th, two leaks occurred in another "North Stream-1" pipeline, and the leakage point was also in the Bornholm Island area.
