Today we are talking about the Morozov quarry, which was once one of the largest coal mines in Ukraine. Even seven years ago, operations continued here, with countless electric shovel excavators capable of loading approximately several thousand tons of coal. But now, these machines are slowly rusting, even to the point of being scrapped. Most of the equipment here is technology from the 1970s, and some even date back to before World War II.
The "steel monster" in the picture below is actually an excavator model ERSHR-1600, manufactured in 1970, and it took several years to divide and transport Go to this factory and be assembled by workers. The weight of this equipment has reached an astonishing 4,000 tons, and the diameter of the bucket wheel has reached 16 meters. Both figures are very scary. She can dig 1,600 cubic meters an hour, which is about 4,000 tons of cargo. It's a pity that this steel behemoth has been cut into scrap iron, which I have to say is still very regrettable.
The picture below is an electric shovel excavator, but also a crawler excavator, model ESH-6/45, produced in the early 70s to the late 80s . The biggest feature of this excavator is that it does not rely on crawlers but the "big feet" underneath to move. When it moves, it looks like a steel monster, or a transformer, which is very shocking. We don't know when this photo was taken, but the shock she conveyed cannot be hidden. Of course, this excavator has disappeared forever, and you can only understand it through photos and data.
Finally, let's take a look at the scenery of this quarry. The sky here is very blue, and the lake is also very blue, forming a strong contrast with the yellow sandy soil, and the visual impact is very strong. However, excessive mining destroyed the geological structure and caused the lake to rise continuously.
