The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has lasted for 4 months. During the conflict, the situation continued to change. The only thing that remains unchanged is that Russia has always dominated the battlefield. Even if the West swarms it, it will be of no avail.
There is no suspense about Russia's final victory. The West's gradually escalating military assistance may cause some trouble for the Russian army, but it is not enough to reverse the situation on the battlefield. The so-called counterattack of Ukraine is even more fanciful.
Therefore, there have been more and more voices proposing peace talks recently. At first, some European countries were calling for it. Now, Kiev's attitude has also become somewhat looser. Later, Russia also expressed its willingness for peace talks. This shows that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is expected to end.
According to the Russian Satellite News Agency, Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Matviyenko said that Russia is ready to hold peace talks with Ukraine. She mentioned some previous practices of the West, accusing the West of not wanting peace talks between Russia and Ukraine at the beginning, but Moscow has never avoided peace talks.
However, the peace talks are not unconditional. Matviyenko emphasized that Russia does not want superficial talks, and also put forward a condition: Ukraine should accept the conditions proposed by Moscow.
The conditions proposed by Moscow are still the first ones, including "demilitarization", "denazification", maintaining neutrality, recognizing Crimea as belonging to Russia, and recognizing the independence of the "two countries" in Donbas.
Judging from the current situation, Ukraine has nothing to struggle with the conditions initially proposed by Russia, because these goals set by Russia have basically been achieved on the battlefield. Now it is not so much about conditions, but about getting Ukraine to recognize Russia's victory.
This is Russia's confidence. It is willing and ready for peace talks, but it does not have to have peace talks. Even if it wants peace talks, it must accept Russia's conditions.
The main strategic focus of Russia is to promote talks through war. It is precisely because the Russian army defeated the Ukrainian army in the second phase of the operation that the voice of "peace" appeared in the West. If Ukraine and the forces behind it still do not cooperate with the peace talks, Russia will continue to exert pressure from the battlefield.
Judging from some of Uzbekistan’s recent statements, there is also the intention of peace talks. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister admitted that Ukraine has plans for negotiations, and he did not say anything about negotiations involving Ukrainian territory. The adviser of Ukrainian President Zelensky also once again stated that he would not join NATO .
If Ukraine can take charge of its own affairs, it is not impossible to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine through peace talks.
But the crux of the problem is that Ukrainian politicians are just puppets and cannot be their own masters. Whether to negotiate or not must follow the instructions of the United States and the West. If the United States does not relent, Ukraine will not dare to negotiate. Even if it does, it will be disrupted and may create obstacles for subsequent in-depth contacts between the two sides.
Now the attitude of the West has become somewhat clear-cut. The United States, Britain and the small countries in Eastern Europe want to continue the war and do not want a ceasefire. The major European countries are not opposed to peace talks, and some leaders will promote peace talks.
But it should be noted that regardless of whether they support peace talks or not, they have not given up their hostility to Russia. This NATO summit is the best proof. After the United States set up Russia as a target, other allies still showed "unity." Joining the United States in imposing new sanctions on Russia, it is also trying to set oil prices to limit Russian oil exports.
It can be seen from this that the West is determined to conquer Russia. Although some countries have wavered before, after a summit was held, the West began to flex its muscles towards Russia.
Therefore, if Russia and Ukraine want to have substantive peace talks, they have to wait for the West and Russia to reach a consensus, whether it is an open dialogue or a private deal.
Now the West just refuses to give up and thinks that Russia may not be able to hold on if it persists for a while. But don’t forget that Russia has an advantage that the West does not have. Russia can get what it wants from the battlefield, and even use the battlefield to make up for the economic losses caused by Western sanctions on Russia.In the end, the core of ending the conflict is the battlefield situation, not off-site factors.
