The North China leopard is a kind of leopard unique to my country. There are 9 subspecies of leopards in the world, 4 of which live in my country. They are the North China leopard, Northeast leopard , Indian leopard and Indochinese leopard . Among these four leopards, only the North China leopard is only distributed in my country, so it is also called " Chinese leopard " .
North China leopards are well-proportioned and medium-sized. Most individuals weigh between 40-75 kilograms when they reach adulthood. Their hair is yellow in color, darker than the Amur leopard, and they also have black markings. The North China leopard's head is rounder and smaller in proportion than that of the tiger, so it looks very coordinated.
The North China leopard is very rare. The number of wild leopards in the country is about 1,500, and it is a national first-level protected animal.
Recently, people found the body of a North China leopard beside a highway in Ningxia. Judging from the traces at the scene, it was most likely that it was hit by a passing car. However, the police did not receive relevant alarm information, so it is speculated that the driver most likely escaped.
As we all know, most of the wild animals in our country are protected by national laws and cannot be harmed at will. Some people were punished or even jailed for hunting wild boars. The protection level of the North China leopard is much higher than that of the wild boar. So how serious are the consequences of killing a North China leopard?
