Xiangxiang is a female giant panda born in Ueno Park in Tokyo in June 2017. She is already five and a half years old this year. She is the sister of twins. Because both parents borrowed it from China, the ownership of Xiangxiang is also in China. Due to the epidemic, the return deadline has been postponed four times so far.
Governor Koike said: "I think many people will feel sad that Xiangxiang, who was born in Ueno and has been loved by everyone for five and a half years, returns to China. I ask everyone to understand because she has to play a more important role in protecting and breeding giant pandas."
Since a large number of people are expected to visit before the return, a lottery will be held in advance from January 21 to February 19 next year, which is the final visit date, and a maximum of 2,600 people will be allowed to visit each day.
In addition, a photo retrospective exhibition titled "Thank you for the fragrance" will be held.
