htmlOn November 8, CCTV's "Eye of Secret Realm" column broadcasts wonderful images of the national three-protected animal crab mongolia captured by the infrared camera of Dachongding Provincial Nature Reserve in Zhaoqing, Guangdong. The audience watched the mysterious faces of wild animals living in the deep forest of Dachongding Provincial Nature Reserve from up close. This is the second time that the Dachongding Reserve has appeared on CCTV's "Eye of Secret Realm" column after the Tibetan monkey last year, which fully demonstrates the fruitful achievements made by the reserve in wildlife monitoring and protection.
Crab mongolia (Latin scientific name: Herpestes urva), also known as mountain badger , stone badger , water badger , white mongolia , bamboo mongolia , bamboo mongolia , etc., weighs 1.5 to 2 kg, has a body length of 400 to 840 mm, and a tail length of 270 to 335 mm. It is called China's largest mongolia. Although it is called crab mongolia, it actually does not treat crabs as its staple food. The snout is thin and pointed, the base of the tail is thick, and gradually becomes thinner backward. The body hair is thick and long, especially the tail hair. The back of the body is gray-brown and yellow, mixed with black. The base of the back hair is light brown, the tip of the hair is grayish white, the snout and around the eyes is light brown or reddish brown, and there is a white pattern extending from the corner of the mouth to the shoulder. It is alert and agile, and can attack the enemy or hunt like a domestic cat. Crab-eating mongoose likes to live in dense forests on both sides of the mountainous valleys and streams, especially in mountainous wooded areas with mountain pit fields, which is a good environment for them to move frequently. Caves are simpler in structure, and tree caves, rock caves or hay piles are mostly used to make nests. Foraging during the day and resting at night by tree caves and stone caves, it is beneficial to people to eliminate rats and snakes.
Dachongding Provincial Nature Reserve was established in 2004 with a total area of 3,761.3 hectares. It is a comprehensive nature reserve that mainly protects rare and endangered animals and plants and subtropical natural secondary evergreen broad-leaved forest forest ecosystems, integrating biodiversity protection, scientific research monitoring, publicity and education, community co-management and sustainable use. According to investigations, the existing species of wildlife in the reserve has increased significantly compared with before its establishment, which is due to strict ecological protection and a good ecological environment. The protected areas play an important role in maintaining ecological diversity and security, protecting the natural environment, promoting harmonious coexistence between man and nature, promoting green development, and building a solid ecological security barrier in northern Guangdong.
