First of all, let’s talk about why some aquarists say that I put the spawning basin in the tank~ But fish always don’t lay eggs on it, but on the bottom or wall of the tank. After many times of breeding experience, I have told me that there are several reasons:
1. It is a problem with the position of your plate. The water flow must be relaxed, and it is not possible to be free from interference.Put it too far in the corner.
2. You have not laid bottom sand. This is very important. Generally, my tank basically has volcanic rock or coral sand that is higher than 3 inside! Simply tidy up a site and place the production basin. The mouth of the basin should not be lower than the bottom sand, and must be higher than the sand surface.
3. The time to release the production basin is too late. Since the spawning area has been cleaned by the broodstock, it is too late to prepare the spawning and then place the spawning pot, so the spawning pot should be placed when the broodstock is paired.
Basically master the above 3 points, the fish will be produced in the production basin with 99% probability (note that in the breeding process, except for the broodstock, clean up all other fish).
After laying eggs, the female fish’s ovulation tube does not retract, and there is still spawning behavior, we can ignore it. After waiting for the eggs to be laid, take out the spawning basin and put it in the hatching tank every 24 hours (basically, I am more than 12 hours).
Hatching tank
The hatching tank should be more than 80 cm in length, and the shallow point should not be too high. It is enough to have a 30~40 cm! The water in the hatching tank is preferably the original tank water (that is, the water in the broodstock breeding tank) with the highest hatching rate. Personal practice is to pump water from the breeding tank into the hatching tank and place a heating device to make the water temperature consistent with that of the breeding tank! At this time, you can use a filter pump to treat the water, but you must not put any medicine or salt in it.
After half an hour, the impurities in the water are processed. Take out the pump, and then put the water fairy to cheer up, add Qingda or methyl blue (medicine should be appropriate). At this time, you can almost get the delivery basin. Tank (preferably erect the delivery basin and hold it against it with a suction cup). In this way, first of all, the water temperature is easier to control, the water quality is the same as the original tank, and the fry can fall from the plate after hatching without being affected by the adhesion of white seeds.
This kind of incubation method has the best and fastest hatching rate! Several experiences have told me that the effect of adding new water to the original tank water for incubation is not ideal, and the incubation time will increase with the proportion of new water. Similarly, adding new water during the start-up period will also affect the growth rate of the fry.
Here I would like to remind everyone that adding new water usually increases the metabolism of fish and speeds up growth. It means that the fry start to feed the fish worms (the fish worms here are not egg yolk worms and brine shrimp!). In the future, new water will be changed, and the amount of water will be changed gradually from less to more. So everyone should not rush to change the water to the fry after the fry is born. It will be counterproductive. When the fry grows to 1~1.5 cm, you can use the pumping filter device, just put on the stockings!
