At the zoo, staff were busy wrapping a thick quilt on the outer layer of the ring-tailed lemur's nest: "We also need to add a layer of thermal insulation plastic film on the outside to block the wind and keep warm." The staff said. After wrapping the outer layer, the staff placed a heating pad inside the nest. Seeing that the staff were busy, several ring-tailed lemurs came forward to watch. After the nest was laid, a ring-tailed lemur holding a piece of lettuce in its paw rushed in to "visit" and seemed very satisfied.
The "Aldabra giant tortoise" who came to Xiamen all the way from Mauritius is also afraid of the cold. The zoo staff opened a "bath heater" for them early. The reporter leaned in and found the building warm. In the tortoise pavilion, in addition to the "owner", there are also peacocks who come to use the "heater". Also enjoying the "bath heater" treatment are pythons. In the python's building, the warm yellow light source is constantly emitting bursts of warmth. Several pythons are "hugging" together, close to the source of warmth. One of them even raised its head and faced the "Yuba" to keep warm.
As a cold-blooded animal, crocodiles are also afraid of the cold. Zoo staff put a thick layer of warm canvas over the water where the crocodiles live. When the canvas was lifted, the crocodile was quietly nesting in the water, leaving only its nostrils exposed. "Crocodiles don't like to move in winter, and they don't eat as frequently as when the temperature is high." The staff told reporters that in addition to the warm canvas, the heating rods in the pool have been turned on long ago, and the temperature of the pool water is always maintained at a level suitable for the crocodiles.
staff told reporters that as the temperature gradually drops, the zoo will continue to improve heating measures, pay attention to the physical condition of the animals at all times, and add or remove heating equipment as needed.
