According to the Guangdong Provincial Forestry Bureau, from December to January of the following year, it is the peak season for migratory bird migration. Guangdong Province's major wetland parks, tidal flats, coastlines, coastal wetlands, etc. have ushered in a large number of migratory birds to "rest", which is estimated to reach more than 300,000.
Guangdong is located in the southernmost part of mainland China. It has rivers and lakes crisscrossed and wetland resources are abundant. It provides a comfortable habitat for birds such as herons, ducks, gulls, and pilosses every year, and continuously promotes harmonious coexistence between man and nature. The scientific research team of the Danxia Mountain National Nature Reserve Administration recently photographed two national first-class protected wild animals - Chinese merganser and yellow-breasted bunting . Birdwatching experts also found wild populations of the national second-class protected wild animal mandarin duck in the waters near Nanling, setting a record of the number of mandarin ducks observed in Shaoguan area at one-time; in Yangjiang, bird watching enthusiasts recently photographed the world's extremely dangerous birds and the national first-class protected wild animal spoon-billed sandpiper on Santouzui Beach, Xitou Town, Yangxi County, Yangjiang City. In Shenzhen, migratory birds such as red-legged sling , anti-billed sling , white spoonbill, black-faced spoonbill, black-billed gull migrated south, and the Shenzhen Bay Wetlands showed a scene of thousands of birds dancing in groups of . According to experts, Guangdong coastal wetlands are an ideal home for migratory birds to migrate, such as Haifeng Wetland, Huizhou Daya Bay and Kaozhou Ocean Coastal Wetland, Pearl River Estuary Wetland, Shenzhen Bay Wetland and other places. Hundreds of thousands of migratory birds arrive for winter every year, and there will be more than 100,000 migratory birds in the Pearl River Estuary Wetland alone. Many birdwatching enthusiasts rushed to various birdwatching resorts to shoot birds with their "long spears and short cannons", and they gained a lot.
Migratory birds are an important indicator of the ecological environment. Rare migratory birds were found in many places in Guangdong, indicating that the ecological appearance and condition of Guangdong wetlands are constantly improving. The reporter learned from the Provincial Forestry Bureau that in recent years, Guangdong has taken a number of measures to strengthen the protection of 11 bird habitats, including the Nanling National Nature Reserve, Neilingding-Futian National Nature Reserve, Rongjiang River Estuary, Wuyu Island, and enhance the important role of Guangdong coastal wetlands as important stopping points, breeding grounds and wintering places on the East Asia-Australian water bird migration channel. In addition, Guangdong continues to build the Pearl River Delta water bird ecological corridor , promote the construction of 19 water bird ecological corridors and 74 ecological nodes in the Pearl River Delta region, build a spatial layout of water bird ecological corridors with "two horizontal, four vertical, multiple branches and multiple points", and form a complete network for protection of migratory birds and their habitats.
