In the warm sunshine of autumn, more than a hundred stray dogs were chasing each other and playing, or strolling slowly in the yard, or lying in a cage to sleep soundly... Between a crop and a village, a private stray dog rescue base in Nanyuan Village, Fenghui Town adopted more than 500 stray dogs. On the afternoon of October 26, the reporter and base volunteer Shen Juanfen came to the rescue base to visit these "haired children".

Relying on love to generate electricity, the abandoned puppy has its own home
Before getting close to the base, the dog behind the door began to "boil", looking out curiously through the barbed wire, and the dog barking one after another. Shen Juanfen explained to the reporter: "Don't be afraid. These dogs are a little excited to see strangers and will not bite people." Sure enough, as soon as the door opened, several puppies came out and surrounded Shen Juanfen and the reporter, rubbing their knees against their heads and waving their tails enthusiastically.
Walking into the rescue base, the yard is divided into several areas, clean and tidy, without any odor. In order to prevent dogs from fighting, the greenhouse in the yard is divided into different "rooms". The dogs jumped and played in the forest surrounded by barbed wire during the day, and went to the doghouse in the greenhouse to sleep at night. There is shelter from the wind and rain, and the "bed" is covered with quilts and old clothes sent by kind-hearted people.
The reporter observed that there are many breeds of stray dogs in the base, mainly Chinese pastoral dog , and there are also golden retriever , Labrador , Samoyed and other breeds of dogs, most of which are abandoned domestic dogs. While taking out the sausages he brought to feed the puppy, Shen Juanfen told reporters that at present, there are more than 500 stray dogs living in the base. Some were sent to the base by kind citizens when they found it on the roadside, some were stolen dogs rescued by volunteers in "dog meat shops" and "dog meat carts". Many of them had owners and were abandoned later.
"This is their 'safe haven't been'. We pick them up, treat them, and feed them. Now most of them are healthy and lively." Shen Juanfen said.

is moving, and every "haired child" has a story
"This is Niu Niu, because she couldn't give birth to a puppy, she was abandoned by the breeding farm. It was rescued by volunteers. When I first arrived at the base, there was no piece of skin on her body that was good." "This puppy was just rescued yesterday morning, but she gave birth to three puppies in the afternoon. She was chubby and cute." Speaking of the puppies in the base, Shen Juanfen talked endlessly.
When asked about the most impressive rescue experience, Shen Juanfen said that on the day when typhoon "Plum Blossoms" landed last month, she and several volunteers spent nearly 5,000 yuan to rescue three puppies that were about to be slaughtered, and drove the puppies to the rescue station of Shaoxing . "It rained very heavily that night, and we were wet from head to toe, but when we saw the dog's clear eyes, we felt that our bodies were no longer cold and our hearts were still warm." Shen Juanfen was still very moved when she recalled the scene at that time.
In recent years, the base’s stray dogs have grown from dozens of them at the beginning to hundreds, and batches of homeless "hairy children" have moved into this big family that is full of love. The reporter learned that before stray dogs are taken to the base, they must first check their health status, conduct internal and external deworming examinations, and then deworm, vaccinate and sterilize according to the situation.

Raise dogs in a civilized manner, let love end their wandering
Rescue stray dogs is far from enough to rely on love. The dog's "clothing, food, housing, and transportation" is a considerable expense. When talking about the base's operating cost , Shen Juanfen did some calculations for the reporter: "Currently, the base has hired three breeders and an injection worker. In addition, the annual fixed expenditure is at least 360,000 yuan. In addition, 500 stray dogs have a monthly ration, and if they get sick, it is even more expensive."The reporter learned that at present, the cost of stray dog rescue and base operation is basically borne by the volunteers themselves. Although caring people occasionally donate, the economic pressure is still high.
Open adoption of dogs rescued is inevitable. On weekdays, volunteers will conduct the most basic training of puppies such as urination and defecation, "sitting down" and "shaking hands". "In addition to facilitating our daily management of puppies, the most important thing is that we hope that after the puppies are adopted, we can have good habits in our new home to avoid being abandoned again. "Shen Juanfen said that the rescue base is not the ultimate destination for the puppies. I hope more volunteers can join the love team and help stray dogs find a warm home forever.
"A small move by human beings can change the fate of a furry child in their lives. We support caring people to adopt free of charge, and adoption can be processed if they meet the conditions. "Shen Juanfen called on, hoping that more people can raise their sense of care and raise dogs in a civilized manner so that these small animals will no longer wander.
