The health status of the giant panda " Tuantuan " which was given away from Taiwan by mainland China has attracted much attention in recent times. According to Global Network , citing island media reports on the 28th, "Tuantuan"'s condition worsened, Taipei City Zoo decided to take pacifying treatment, and the mainland will also send experts to visit.
"Tuantuan" and "Yuanyuan" went to Taiwan in 2008 with their best wishes as their names, becoming the most popular "stars" in Taipei Zoo. However, since August this year, Tuantuan has epilepsy symptoms. After magnetic vibration imaging (MRI) examination, it was found that Tuantuan has brain lesions and his condition improved after taking anti-epileptic drugs.
After October 16, it often has poor appetite and is lying down and eating while lying down. After observation, relevant personnel found that the amount of food and activity of "Tuantuan" was significantly less than before.
After the second magnetic vibration contrast (MRI), it was found that the lesion area of the "tuantuan" brain expanded, which is highly likely to be a malignant tumor. Considering that the current physical condition of "Tuantuan" is not good, anesthesia and invasive treatment are not suitable, more soothing care and treatment methods will be adopted.
The park said that since "Tuantuan" got sick, he has been in contact with the mainland, and has also given suggestions on breeding and medical care. The zoo continues to take "Tuantuan" to relieve discomfort, and the situation of "Tuantuan" hind limb weakness in the past two days has improved slightly.
Zoo veterinarian Zheng Qiuhong said that the condition of "Tuantuan" on October 22 has exceeded the cases that have occurred in the mainland. At present, no "Tuantuan" has occurred in the surviving pandas in the mainland. The two sides have had exchanges, and the mainland also agrees with our approach.
giant panda curator Chen Yuyan choked and said that "Tuantuan" has always been very well-behaved and can take medicine and injections obediently. What impressed him the most was that in January, "Tuantuan" had a nasal inflammation and had nosebleeds , and he was also obediently receiving treatment. At this stage, he can only let "Tuantuan" live every day happily, and of course I hope it can accompany everyone for a longer time.
The garden also said that a blessing message board was also placed in the giant panda hall, and the public can write down their blessings to Tuantuan and cheer them up. The staff of the zoo said that the message board was filled with blessings from Taiwanese children just a few hours after it was launched, and everyone hoped that "tuantuan" would get better soon.
In addition, Taipei City Zoo Director Liu Shifen said on the 27th that considering that "Tuantuan" comes from Sichuan Province, he hopes to invite mainland experts to Taiwan to visit and exchange experiences, so he applied to the Taipei City Government to invite mainland experts to Taiwan.
Taipei City Zoo pointed out that when " Yuanzai " was born in 2013, the zoo did not have the experience of delivering babies for pandas, and he invited mainland experts to Taiwan for help and guidance. When "Yuanbao" was born in 2020, mainland experts were not invited to Taiwan. This time, in order to take care of the group, the park invited the Wolong expert to Taiwan for the second time.
Regarding the invitation to Taipei City Zoo, Taiwan Affairs Office spokesman Ma Xiaoguang said that after receiving the invitation letter from Taipei City Zoo on the afternoon of October 27, he planned to send two experts to Taiwan. He is now under the assistance of relevant departments to handle relevant procedures. He hopes that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait will work together to help Tuantuan overcome the difficulties.
In addition, Taiwan’s “Committee on Agriculture” also replied that it would assist mainland experts to go to Taiwan as soon as possible. The Taiwan Epidemic Command Center stated that mainland experts can adopt the "0+7" independent epidemic prevention policy after coming to Taiwan. If there are no symptoms, as long as the quick screening result is negative within 2 days, you can go to the zoo to assist.
Zoo pointed out that the mainland is tentatively scheduled to come to Taiwan by two experts from the Sichuan base for 7 days. Since the mainland veterinary team had previously communicated through videos and provided professional opinions, this trip to Taiwan will not intervene in medical treatment, mainly visiting, and fully respect the Taiwanese veterinary team.According to media reports on the island, mainland China prefers veterinarians or breeders who have taken care of "Tuantuan and Yuanyuan" to come to Taiwan first. After all, since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, breeders have not visited Tuantuan for a long time. They hope to arrange a familiar "family relatives from Sichuan hometown" to cheer up their old friends.
I hope "Tuantuan" can recover as soon as possible with the joint efforts of experts from both sides of the Taiwan Strait and continue to accompany everyone.
