On April 23, 2021, the wild Siberian tiger "Wandashan No. 1" appeared in Mishan , and the tiger was finally successfully captured and released back to the mountains. After a year, a tiger track appeared again in Mishan, and experts determined that the tiger and Wandashan No. 1 were not the same tiger.
Mishan City is located in the southeast of Heilongjiang Province. It is adjacent to Hulin City in the east, across Xingkai Lake in the south, and is adjacent to Jixi City in the west. Mishan City belongs to the second district of the Sanjiang Plain, the Wanda Mountains in the north, the Changbai Mountains in the south, and the Muling River in the middle, and the alluvial plain of the Muling River in the middle. It was found that a suspected tiger footprint was found on the south side of the first group of Border Village, Errenban Township, Mishan City.
Professional staff from Mishan Forestry and Grassland Bureau Wen Hu moved quickly and arrived at the scene as soon as possible to conduct on-site inspections of the footprints in the soybean field, and measure and take photos of footprints and strides. The palm length of this footprint is about 18 cm, the palm width is about 13 cm, and the length and width of the palm rest are about 10 cm. In order to obtain more data, the police on the scene also followed the footprints suspected to be Siberian tiger . The on-site situation was also reported to Heilongjiang Forestry and Grassland Bureau . Experts from the Provincial Wildlife Research Institute initially determined that this footprint was left by an adult wild Siberian tiger.
Lin Zhengkou and Wang Xingshun of the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Mishan City introduced that the footprint, including the step spacing, was measured on site, and it was suspected that it should be the footprint of the Siberian tiger. The footprint of the Siberian tiger is different from other wild animals. Its front paws are retracted during walking. There will be no claw marks in front after landing. After the on-site measurement photos are sent to experts from the Provincial Wildlife Research Institute, it is determined that it is the footprint of the Siberian tiger.
