This is the first time that relevant information has been discovered and recorded in Baiyangdian, proving that the blue-headed pochard has "settled down" in Baiyangdian.
The blue-headed pochard is a national first-level protected animal . In 2013, it was included in the IUCN red list of critically endangered species, with only a few hundred left in the world.
In late May this year, when the Hebei Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau was conducting a monitoring and inspection of birds in the Baiyangdian Wetland, more than 10 adult blue-headed pochards, a globally endangered species and a national first-level protected animal, were subsequently intensified. The Zaofendian Bird Protection Zone and the Taohua Island Bird Wilding Center are relatively controlled areas; the Fuhe and Xiaoyi River estuary wetlands have been subdivided, and the wetland precipitating ponds and underflow wetlands are classified as relative control areas , the Fuhe estuary wetland aquatic plant pond, the Xiaoyi River estuary wetland aquatic plant pond and the multi-pond system are designated as absolute control areas.
Hebei issued the "Notice on Strengthening the Management of Baiyangdian Bird Habitats". In the absolute control area, any human interference activities, the entry of transportation vehicles, and the construction of any production and living facilities are strictly prohibited in the absolute control area; in the relative control area, unauthorized entry of people, vehicles, and boats is strictly prohibited, and any construction related to Facilities unrelated to bird protection and human activities restricted to the maximum extent possible. Important bird habitats are fully closed and controlled, trenches and passages are ecologically isolated, warning signs are installed, management and control requirements are clarified, and normal access control is implemented.
The notice requires that the entire Baiyangdian Wetland is listed as a protected hunting area , with a hunting ban period throughout the year, and the hunting ban regulations are strictly implemented. It is strictly prohibited to damage aquatic animal migration channels or wild animal habitats, and strengthen inspections and inspections in prohibited fishing areas and fishing periods. It is prohibited to discharge industrial wastewater and domestic sewage that do not meet water pollutant discharge standards into wetlands.
