In recent years, a new species of fever-grade seawater ornamental fish called the Golden-winged Fire Unicorn has been popular among many aquarium enthusiasts. Both sexes of this small fish are extremely beautiful and are a rare addition to the saltwater fish tank. With its red and white body color and high erect dorsal fin, it looks energetic.

Golden-winged fire unicorn, whose scientific name is Synchiropus sycorax, belongs to the genus Synchiropus sycorax. It is a new species that was only announced in 2016. It is native to the coral reefs in the waters near the Indian Ocean western Philippines .
The golden-winged fire unicorn is small in size, only 6-8cm in length. Its bright red body is dotted with gem-like white spots. Both male and female have a pair of bright yellow wide pelvic fins dotted with black spots. Like other dorsal fins, the first dorsal fin of the male of the Golden-winged Fire Qilin is very tall and has horizontal black and yellow stripes; the first dorsal fin of the female is short and has only a small black patch. has a very small mouth, and its staple food is some tiny copepods organisms found in coral reefs. This kind of fish hardly opens its mouth to eat dry pellet food, so a large amount of live rock is needed in the fish tank to cultivate abundant copepods. Or hatch brine shrimp , water fleas , or feed frozen brine shrimp larvae, so that they can be kept in a small fish tank. The golden-winged fire unicorn is very timid and slow to feed. Artificial feeding requires special care. Try to keep it in front of its eyes.

Golden-winged Fire Unicorn is not difficult to raise and can even be bred in a fish tank. But it likes to jump, especially at night when the lights are turned off in the fish tank. It will often swim near the water surface, jump up along the tank wall, and then jump out of the tank. Therefore, the top of the fish tank needs to be covered with a dense anti-jump net.
