The British couple Lorraine and Adrian Marshall adopted ten kittens. Since their three children have grown up, they have regarded these ten cats as their "babies".
Unfortunately, three of them were run over by cars. In order to avoid the recurrence of the tragedy, they built a "castle" worth 1,500 pounds for the cat in their courtyard. The 8-foot (2.4-meter) high "castle" is made of wood and barbed wire. The couple sought professional advice from a gardener at a certain animal hospital and completed the project in June.
But soon this "castle" caused dissatisfaction among neighbors. Lorraine said a local government official told her that it must be taken down. Lorraine couldn't understand: "I'm sad. This street is very busy and the cars are speeding by. I can't let them out. I have to keep them in the house, but this is unhealthy for them. They also need fresh air."
Adrian said that he has served the community for more than 30 years and runs two post offices. This incident makes him feel that he has been treated unfairly. "The cats love this'castle' very much. The cat is ours. For the whole life, we and our cat are very happy in our own little world and don't disturb anyone. Now someone comes over and tells me that I am not allowed to build things in my garden. I really feel disgusting." Adrian said.
A committee spokesperson said: “We have visited and talked with the Adrians. We suggest that the structure in the front garden does require planning permission, which can be applied retrospectively. We are also very happy to be here again Meet with the owner to see if there is a suitable alternative."
