According to US media reports, forensic examination after the incident found that Walker had more than 60 gunshot wounds. However, since one bullet may penetrate the human body and cause multiple wounds, the exact number of bullets needs to be determined through an autopsy.
Summit County Medical Examiner Lisa Kohler announced the autopsy results on the 15th. Walker was shot 46 times and died of severe internal injuries and excessive bleeding. Among them, he was hit by 15 bullets in the upper body, causing multiple injuries such as the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, left kidney, intestines, ribs, etc.; 1 bullet was hit in the face, causing a broken jaw; 17 bullets were hit in the pelvis and thighs, causing injuries to an aorta, bladder, femur and other places; 5 bullets were hit in the calf, knee and foot; 8 bullets were hit in the arms and hands.
The autopsy also showed there were no signs of alcohol or drugs in Walker's system.
The police claimed that Walker fired a shot, but subsequent investigation showed that Walker was not carrying weapons when he escaped. Only a pistol and some bullets were found in his car, and the pistol was not loaded with bullets.

Walker’s family spoke out through their lawyer, There was no need for the police to shoot Walker at that time. According to the body camera footage, Walker had his back turned to them when the police opened fire; after Walker fell to the ground, the police continued to fire at him.
