When countries such as Japan and South Korea are mandating men to serve in the military, our country cannot even sign up voluntarily. Why doesn't our country force military service?
As a basic military system, everyone must be familiar with the military service system, and various countries have different systems for recruiting soldiers. Currently, more than 20 countries including Japan and South Korea are implementing compulsory or semi-compulsory military conscription. South Korea’s Military Service Law stipulates that male citizens aged 20 to 28 must serve in the military. Only those who have suffered from serious diseases, or are too fat or too thin have the opportunity to apply not to participate in military service.
Every time the military service season comes, fans from all walks of life will cry to heaven and earth. No matter how popular the Obama is, or the second-generation official or the second-generation rich, everyone has to serve in the military when they reach the age. Those who do not accept the service will face imprisonment of less than three years. Needless to say, the service environment in South Korea is not a big deal. The poor quality of food and drink is not a problem. The most terrifying thing is that bullying often occurs. This shows how terrible Korean military service is.
Japan's service system is not completely compulsory. It's up to you to go or not. But when the Self-Defense Forces are short of troops, they have to step up and young men of appropriate age are required to serve. Once selected, if they fail to reach the designated service location within 3 days, they will be directly sent to the military court and be imprisoned for 3 years on the charge of deserting military service. It can be seen from this that compulsory military service is really a helpless act of a small country with few people. Compared with these two countries, we can be said to be much more merciful in the area of military conscription. So what will it be like if China also shows off a wave of forced conscription?
What would happen if China implemented compulsory military service like other countries? The number of hundreds of millions of troops must not directly exceed the total population of Japan. It is estimated that the battles on the front lines have been completed, and the names here have not been finished yet. Sending out a squad of scouts is not enough to climb even one hill. You have to rely on connections on the battlefield to be assigned an enemy. How can this be forced? It is impossible for China and South Korea to maintain the same conscription system. After all, the population size and national conditions are very different. So how strong is China's wartime general mobilization capability? As early as the 1960s, when all the people were in the army, the battles were scary enough.
Take the famous Zhenbao Island Battle as an example. In order to seize a piece of Zhenbao Island with an area of only 0.74 square kilometers, from 1967 to 1969, the Soviet Union sent troops to harass Zhenbao Island 16 times and interfered with the normal traffic and production of Chinese residents. At that time, the whole country, including the elderly, women, and even children of six or seven years old, those with guns picked up guns, and those without guns picked up sticks, all participated in the military training in a decent manner. There is a lyric that goes like this, 700 million people, 700 million soldiers, thousands of miles of rivers and mountains, thousands of miles of camps, which refers to the military strength of our country at that time. The army once expanded to nearly 6 million. When the Soviets saw our country's battle, they were also frightened, so they came to us to ask for peace. After so many years, although our military strength is not as exaggerated as in the past, it is completely sufficient.
According to data, my country's current People's Liberation Army has 2 million troops. It is already one of the countries with the largest number of active soldiers in the world today. If military service is still mandatory, the number of my country's troops will really exceed 100 million. More troops will increase the country's financial and other burdens, but this is only one of them. my country does not have a mandatory military service system, and even voluntary military service cannot be reported. What is the reason behind this?
Our country’s military service system can be said to be the envy of other countries. What would happen if China also forced military service? According to statistics, the total number of young men aged 18 to 24 in our country is at least 40 million, and the People's Liberation Army currently has about 2 million people in active service. If our country really implements compulsory military service, then our military expenditure will be at least 20 times more than it is now, greatly increasing the national financial burden. What's more, the world is now peaceful, and large-scale wars are unlikely to occur for a long time in the future. Therefore, raising so many soldiers is really useless.
Moreover, in the modern military era, what is valued is technical equipment, and the human sea tactic has long been outdated. Whenever a war breaks out, the news reports are how many planes, aircraft carriers, tanks, and how many bombs were dropped. It is rare to hear that a country has sent hundreds of thousands of troops. Modern warfare is no longer the same as before when soldiers press the border, and artillery attacks Boom, if we really want to fight now, weapons and equipment are the most critical. The most powerful ones are those who can kill the enemy thousands of miles away. Under the premise that most countries' armies cannot reach one million, the number of our existing troops is adequate. Instead of spending funds to expand the army, it is better to use it to develop some more advanced weapons. As long as we have nuclear weapons, and other high technologies in hand, no country will dare to provoke us.
Only when the country becomes stronger, we ordinary people will live a happier life. There is also the most important reason. Our country has always been focused on peaceful development. If a large number of troops are recruited without reason, it will cause panic in the surrounding areas, and the threat theory will be raised, which will also affect the stability of the situation in surrounding areas. However, our country does not advocate the use of force to solve problems, so even if our country is strong, it will not actively threaten other countries unless the other party takes the initiative to provoke.
