Wang Wenjiao is known as the "pioneer" of badminton in New China. His ancestral home is Nan'an, Fujian, and he was born in 1933 in , Indonesia. He was once a well-known badminton star in Indonesia. In 1954, he resolutely returned to China together with Chen Fushou and other overseas Chinese young people, despite the obstruction of Indonesia. After returning to China, Wang Wenjiao won the men's singles and doubles championships in the National Badminton Championships many times.
