Amidst all the noise, the Taiwan authorities’ decision to extend the military service system finally surfaced a few days ago. According to " China Taiwan Network " citing reports released by multiple Taiwanese media, due to the tremendous pressure exerted by the U.S. government and the recent preparations for military exercises in the eastern theater of the mainland, Tsai Ing-wen held a closed-door meeting of the security department on the morning of the 27th, and formally announced it at a press conference at 3:30 p.m. Announcement, major adjustments will be made to the Taiwan military's force structure, including extending the compulsory service time from the current four months to one year, which will officially take effect on January 1, 2024; adjusting the salary standard for compulsory service from the past NT$6,000 to NT$20,000; comprehensively introducing the latest training models from Western countries, etc.
Not only that, in the military reform plan announced by the Taiwan authorities this time, the main battle force of the Taiwan military in the future will be composed of volunteers, which are "professional soldiers" in the usual sense, while the compulsory service is mainly responsible for defense tasks, such as the defense of key departments and the defense of important infrastructure.
Tsai Ing-wen is still resisting to the death
Since the military service system is a social issue of long-term concern on the island, when Tsai Ing-wen announced the extension of the service period, young people on the island, regardless of blue or green, were all upset. They criticized the DPP on the Internet for provoking cross-strait tensions, and then pushed young people into the battlefield. Ironically, the reason why Taiwan's compulsory military service lasts for four months is precisely because of the compromise policy implemented by the Democratic Progressive Party in order to win the votes of young people. Now, the Democratic Progressive Party has not completely stepped down from power, but has already broken its original promise to young voters.
At the same time, many Taiwanese media discovered that it has been two years since Tsai Ing-wen attended the public press conference she last faced social media. Therefore, many local media analysts believe that the fundamental reason why Tsai Ing-wen broke her habit was to "show determination" to the Biden administration. From a practical point of view, Tsai Ing-wen's idea of "all people being soldiers" will not only bring no security to Taiwan's 23 million people, but will push both sides of the Taiwan Strait, especially Taiwan, into a very dangerous situation. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has begun to inevitably become complicated and even long-term, and the United States, having tasted the sweetness, is still planning to create a new conflict in the Taiwan Strait.
The Democratic Progressive Party is serving the interests of the United States
It incites conflict and confrontation between Chinese people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to create generational hatred. It can also undermine the momentum of Asia's economic rise, and more importantly, completely interrupt China's road to rejuvenation. At the same time, we must also see that the Democratic Progressive Party authorities headed by Tsai Ing-wen are eager to tear off the mask of peace disguised as the core of "Taiwan independence."
In the past six years, Tsai Ing-wen has repeatedly said that she wants to "maintain the status quo." However, when it comes to core cross-strait issues, Tsai Ing-wen has repeatedly touched the red line and relied on this sideline approach to win the support of the independence faction on the island. It was not until August this year, when facing our military's important military training operations against Taiwan, that the big lie told by the DPP authorities was exposed. The so-called "resist China and protect Taiwan" is essentially "resist China and protect the green". For the sake of their own selfish interests and the selfish interests of one party, the top leaders of the Democratic Progressive Party, regardless of the wealth and lives of 23 million Taiwanese people, insist on tying Taiwan to the anti-China chariot of the United States and rush towards the end.
Reforming the military service system on the island cannot change the balance of strength between the two sides.
Of course, for the mainland, the future compulsory service force of the Taiwan military will be for four months or one year. Our military’s military deployment against Taiwan will continue to be promoted as always. Today, the desire of the United States and the West to create a new round of military conflict in the Taiwan Strait is getting stronger and stronger. The People's Liberation Army will not hesitate to stand at the forefront of fighting against "Taiwan independence" separatist forces and foreign interference forces, and thwart any conspiracy that attempts to split China's territory and undermine China's sovereignty.
