Shi Mingde is a stubborn "Taiwan independence" element and a person who was once very influential in Taiwan. He was sentenced to more than 20 years in prison, but after being released from prison, he was still elected as chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party, which shows how firm his position is.
, and Shi Mingde himself has also made many amazing moves. For example, he launched the " anti-bian " campaign for millions of people, demanding that Chen Shui-bian resign and step down to "end" the narrow-mindedness and corruption represented by Chen Shui-bian.
For example, Shi Mingde also put pressure on Tsai Ing-wen, asking her to "swear to live and die with Taiwan" so as not to take the lead in "running away" at critical moments. Shi Mingde, who was imprisoned for 26 years, has been in prison for 26 years, and is still active in Taiwan's political arena.
In 1941, Shi Mingde was born in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan Province. His parents are both traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, but he chose a military academy after graduating from middle school. He studied at the Taiwan Army Artillery Academy and after graduation he served as an artillery monitor at Little Kinmen .
1962, Shi Mingde was arrested for being involved in the "Taiwan Independence Alliance Case". Among them, this so-called "Taiwan Independence Alliance" is an organization composed of Shi Mingde and some other Taiwanese youth, and is different from the so-called "Taiwan Independence Alliance" overseas.
In Little Kinmen, Shi Mingde won over a group of "like-minded" people - including his two brothers Shi Mingxiong and Shi Mingzheng, and organized a "Taiwan Independence Alliance" of nearly 100 people. Just by listening to the name, you can tell that this alliance is for "Taiwan independence".
Although Chiang Kai-shek's rule in is unpopular and he cannot beat the Communist Party, even if he retreated to Taiwan, he was still determined to "counterattack the mainland", so Chiang Kai-shek naturally could not tolerate such "Taiwan independence" activities.
So, the three brothers of Shi Mingde and more than 30 other people who were considered to be the "masters" of this case were arrested together.
After being arrested, Shi Mingde was in a very bad life. In November 1962, Shi Mingde, who had been arrested for more than five months, was sent to the "Security Office of the Security Headquarters" for investigation. During the interrogation, Shi Mingde was tortured. It is said that his teeth were broken and his spine was severely damaged.
In 1963, Shi Mingde's two brothers were sentenced to five years in prison. The next year, Shi Mingde was also sentenced: he was sentenced to life imprisonment and served his sentence in Taitung Taiyuan Prison.
In prison, Shi Mingde was not idle either. He studied Japanese with the political prisoners in the same cell, and systematically studied international law . Anyway, he never gave up the idea of "Taiwan independence".
A few years after he was imprisoned, a "riot" occurred in Taiyuan Prison. The political prisoners in the prison killed the guards, seized guns, and stabbed a non-commissioned officer to death.
These political prisoners who participated in the riot were eventually executed. Although Shi Mingde did not directly participate in the matter, he was locked in a "dark room" that was only 3 feet times 6 feet in size because he did not report it, and lived a life of upside down day and night.
Later, because Green Island Prison was completed, Shi Mingde was transferred there to serve his sentence. In Green Island , Shi Mingde studied international public law and also posted comments in magazines to analyze current affairs.
In 1975, Chiang Kai-shek passed away. For this reason, Taiwan had a "compression of sentence" and Shi Mingde was also commuted to 15 years.
1977, after Shi Mingde was released from prison, he began to devote himself to the "out-party movement" and also served as the general manager of "Beautiful Island" magazine.
Shi Mingde criticized the Chiang family regime for being a "congress that remains unchanged for thousands of years", and criticized KMT authorities for arbitrarily arresting opposition people, and were almost sent to jail by the Kuomintang authorities. Finally, with the intervention of the United States, Shi Mingde was finally spared from prison.
But Shi Mingde escaped and still did not know how to restrain himself. He continued to use the "Beautiful Island" magazine to criticize the Kuomintang authorities, and also organized Taiwanese people to conduct "anti-Chiang demonstrations" and delivered various "anti-Chiang" speeches.
During a demonstration in Kaohsiung , fierce conflict broke out between the demonstrators and the military and police. The Taiwanese authorities dispatched riot suppression troops and tear gas bombs to deal with the rallying crowd. The "Beautiful Island Incident" broke out, and Chiang Ching-kuo was furious.
Chiang Ching-kuo ordered a search for the initiators and participants of the "Beautiful Island Incident" for "rebellion". In 1980, more than 150 people, including Sch Mingde, were arrested, and the backbone of "Beautiful Island" magazine was almost "imperfected".
This time, Shi Mingde was sentenced to life imprisonment again. It is said that Chiang Ching-kuo wanted to directly sentence him to death, but in the end he was sentenced to life imprisonment taking into account all factors.
It was not until the late 1980s that Lee Teng-hui served as the leader of Taiwan and declared that "the verdict of the Beautiful Island Incident was invalid." Shi Ming-teh was pardoned and released from prison. When he walked out of prison in 1990, he had been in jail for 26 years, more than a quarter of a century.
Such a long prison life seems to have only strengthened his determination to "Taiwan independence".
Shi Mingde and Chen Shui-bian's love, hate, and love
In October 1990, Shi Mingde, who had just been released from prison, participated in the election for the fifth party chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party. However, this time he failed in the election. In order to realize his "Taiwan independence" proposition, Shi Mingde established the "New Taiwan Reconstruction Committee" to increase his influence.
In 1993, Shi Mingde took over as chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party and was re-elected as chairman of the sixth party in the second year.
Because the claim of "Taiwan independence" in Taiwan at that time was still opposed by the vast majority of people, in order to seek more support, Shi Mingde first downplayed the demands of "Taiwan independence" and pursued moderate remarks such as "party reconciliation" to deceive the Taiwanese people, and successfully expanded the influence of the DPP.
However, in the 1996 Taiwan leadership election, the DPP launched the "Godfather of Taiwan Independence" Peng Mingmin, and the DPP was defeated in the end, and Shi Mingde had to resign as the chairman of the party.
After a period of stagnation, in 2000, Chen Shui-bian won the Taiwan leadership election, and the Democratic Progressive Party came to power, officially pushing "Taiwan independence" to the forefront.
Although Shi Mingde and Chen Shui-bian have different "generations", Shi Mingde actually helped Chen Shui-bian. In the "Beautiful Island Incident", Shi Mingde was the main criminal, while Chen Shui-bian was just a defense lawyer at the time. Many people believe that Chen Shui-bian's transition from a lawyer to an out-of-party movement is not unrelated to the "inspiration" of Shi Mingde and others.
In 1994, Chen Shui-bian participated in the Taipei mayor election. In fact, the DPP had little advantage in Taipei at that time, and Chen Shui-bian's chances of winning were not high. Moreover, Chen Shui-bian was also exposed by the media at that time that he had gone to Macau to visit prostitutes, which aroused the disgust of voters and his chances of winning were even smaller.
With the strong support of Shi Mingde, Chen Shui-bian finally achieved a "turnaround" and was elected as mayor of Taipei. From this perspective, Shi Mingde can be said to be kind to Chen Shui-bian, and Chen Shui-bian should be grateful.
But not long after, the two had a conflict over power struggle. In 1996, because Chen Shui-bian was making trouble behind the scenes and asked his direct descendants to vote, Shi Mingde missed the "Legislative Yuan President" by a single vote.
This move cleared the obstacles for Chen Shui-bian's power path, but also sacrificed the interests of the DPP, and the conflict between the two became public.
After Chen Shui-bian was elected, he was worried about "the power was lost" and rejected Shi Mingde's proposal to form a "majority ruling alliance". Therefore, Shi Mingde no longer tried to help Chen Shui-bian "stabilize the regime", but instead began to criticize Chen Shui-bian's authorities.
Shi Mingde joined hands with some "old men" of the Democratic Progressive Party to form a "Shan League" to specifically criticize Chen Shui-bian's authorities. They also said that Chen Shui-bian would lead to a "super dictatorship" in Taiwan, and that Taiwan's economy declined and political instability under Chen Shui-bian's rule. In the end, Shi Ming-teh simply left the DPP.
In 2005, the corruption case about Chen Shui-bian and his family was gradually exposed, and Chen Shui-bian's wife and son-in-law were involved, which aroused even greater dissatisfaction from Shi Mingde. Therefore, he launched another campaign - millions of people "reverse the bench".
Shi Mingde issued a "anti-Bian" declaration, claiming that Chen Shui-bian can no longer represent the local regime in Taiwan. Only when Chen Shui-bian stepped down can he end the "narrowness and corruption" represented by him and save Taiwan. He called on Taiwanese people to stand up and urged Chen Shui-bian to resign and step down.
Shi Mingde also proposed that if a Taiwanese citizen takes out 100 yuan and raises 1 million yuan within one month, it means that he has received the support of millions of people, and he will "take the streets" again by then.
Unexpectedly, Shi Mingde raised up 1 million yuan in less than a week, so he fulfilled his promise and took to the streets to launch the "anti-flat" movement.
At that time, more than 300,000 Taiwanese people were wearing red clothes and participated in the "anti-flat" movement. According to Shi Mingde himself, someone had hoped that he would lead people into the "Presidential Palace" and force Chen Shui-bian to step down. He also considered "ordering" million people to "attack" Chen Shui-bian's office, but in the end he did not take these actions.
just kept launching the "anti-Bian" movement, convening the Sequoia Army to launch a "world siege" and demanding that Chen Shui-bian step down. His activities were not completely over until Chen Shui-bian step down in 2008.
Judging from what Shi Mingde did later, he seems to have rarely expressed his "Taiwan independence" position, but instead pursues Taiwan's "democracy". But in fact, Shi Mingde has never given up "Taiwan independence". What he really wants to do is to let Taiwan take off the cloak of "Republic of China" and completely abandon the "one-China principle."
put pressure on Tsai Ing-wen to coexist with Taiwan
In 2014, Shi Mingde took the lead in proposing a so-called "first-one middle structure" and tried to replace the "one-center principle" with "first-one middle structure" as the "transition plan for the current stage of the cross-strait."
Just listening to the name, some people may think that the name of this "first-one China architecture" is still "one China", but in fact, this violates the legal basis of the "one China" principle, which is to engage in "Taiwan independence".
Because of the cross-strait relations under the "big-one China architecture", the two sides of the Taiwan Strait jointly form an "incomplete international legal person". According to Shi Mingde, "complete international legal person" refers to a state, so the so-called "incomplete international legal person" is an "organization" that cannot even be considered a "state".
Together with the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, neither the mainland nor Taiwan can form a country with complete sovereignty. This is not against "one China", or "Taiwan independence"? Although the "Fresh One Middle School Architecture" still retains the name of "one middle school", it has emptied the connotation of "one middle school".
Moreover, Shi Mingde also interpreted the status quo across the Taiwan Strait as the two "divided governments" of the "Republic of China" and the People's Republic of China. What it contains even the sinister intentions of "two countries and two governments", which completely violates what the mainland believes that the status quo of cross-strait is the positioning of "political confrontation left over and continued by the civil war."
In addition, Shi Mingde also proposed that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait jointly join United Nations to establish normal relations with other countries. This is even more naked "two-state theory", which completely exposes Shi Mingde's "Taiwan independence" position.
Later, Shi Mingde also spoke wildly, claiming that "every Taiwanese are a Taiwanese independence element" and did not care about the feelings of the Taiwanese people at all.
It can be said that although Shi Mingde has separated from the DPP, he is just dissatisfied with the corruption of the DPP authorities and has not changed his position of "Taiwan independence". His dissatisfaction with the DPP authorities is not just "corruption".
Last year, the scene of the US military evacuation in a hurry and former Afghanistan President Ghani quickly escaped was directly related to the Taiwanese authorities.Soon, Shi Mingde found a new perspective to criticize the Tsai Ing-wen administration. He said that those who are corrupt must be cowards, and the Tsai Ing-wen administration will abandon the "state" and the people and flee in panic.
Although the corruption scandal of the Tsai Ing-wen administration is not as good as that of the Chen Shui-bian administration, media have previously revealed that Tsai Ing-wen's special plane was used to smuggle cigarettes. As a result, Shi Ming-de pointed out that the Tsai Ing-wen administration is not much better, and as long as the crisis comes, she will definitely run very fast.
For this reason, Shi Mingde put pressure on Tsai Ing-wen, demanding that Tsai Ing-wen take the oath to coexist with Taiwan. Moreover, Shi Mingde is not only worried about Tsai Ing-wen, but also about other "Taiwan independence" elements. He requires the Taiwanese leaders to add the content of "coexistence and death with Taiwan" to their oath.
From a certain perspective, Shi Mingde still knows "Taiwan independence" elements very well.
He knew that Tsai Ing-wen and others would definitely not "sustain and perish" with Taiwan at critical moments. They "seek independence" to a greater extent just for their own interests. Once danger occurs, they will definitely "lose away".
Moreover, since Tsai Ing-wen came to power, she has indeed conducted many "escape exercises" and formulated various escape plans. The jokes about Tsai Ing-wen's escape have also been widely circulated on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
However, although Shi Mingde wanted to "solve" the DPP authorities' escape at the last minute, the method he chose was not right.
After all, it is really a critical moment, and it is useless to take an oath. Those who should "run" will still "run". The oaths of "Taiwan independence" elements are even more "worthless". For example, the "godfather of Taiwan independence" Peng Mingmin also promised that he would "no longer engage in Taiwan independence", but after fleeing abroad, he immediately began to promote "Taiwan independence".
Now in Taiwan, "Taiwan independence" is just a business. If the "Taiwan independence" elements have really considered "sustaining and dying" with Taiwan, Taiwan will not develop into what it is now. No matter how much pressure Shi Mingde puts, it will not be successful. To be honest, it seems difficult to say whether Shi Mingde himself will "sustain and perish" with Taiwan by the day of reunification.
