UN reported that the Deputy Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Affairs La Croix said at the Security Council meeting on the Sahel issue on the 16th that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of anti-terrorism operations by peacekeepers in , the Sahel region has increased instead of decreasing, and the "severe challenges" faced by this region urgently needs to be coordinated and responded to by all parties.
La Croix expressed support for the Joint G5 Force, saying: "The United Nations welcomes the continuous strengthening of coordinated cooperation among security forces on the frontline...to increase the patrol of defense and security forces and increase the crackdown on terrorist groups."
