According to legend, the Red Temple was built to commemorate the 13-year-old filial daughter, Gao Dagu, in Hongmiao Village, in the past 4 years. Gao Dagu lost his mother in his early years and relied on his father, who was the general of the country. One year, Gao Dagu's father was ordered to fight against the Japanese pirates and died in the sea. Gao Dagu cried day and night, which moved God. God specially sent a god to give her a spoon and told her that after scooping the sea water, his father's body would be found. Gao Da Aunt held an iron spoon in his hand, scooping spoon by spoon. After day and night, his father's body finally emerged. Gao Da Aunt collected his father's body and brought the coffin back to his hometown. He also died for his father's death. The villagers buried him on the side of his father's tomb. From then on, her touching story of "Seeking Father Thousands of Miles" was circulated by later generations. To commemorate this filial daughter, generations of local people generously donated money to build a temple in Hongmiao Village and shaped a statue for her to admire. Since the temple walls of the entire building are all red, they are called "Red Temple" and later also called "Gaoda Gu Temple". Since then, the Red Temple Fair will be held every year on June 6th. The filial piety performances, large-scale sacrifices, cultural exchanges and other activities are colorful. People from hundreds of miles of the square garden come to worship. It has continued to this day and has become one of the famous temple fairs and tourist attractions in the surrounding area.

According to historical records, the ancient temple has been repaired many times in history, from grass halls to brick houses and wooden temples. The current temple is renovated for the third time. The entire temple covers an area of more than 800 square meters. Its architecture still maintains the style of Ming Dynasty , with double eaves and towering ridges, simple and elegant. The temple consists of three main halls, the middle hall is Laogu Pavilion, the west hall is Wenchang Pavilion, and the east hall is Sanxiao Pavilion. Inside and outside the temple are statues such as Gaodagu, Kuixing , Bixia Yuanjun , etc. There are statues such as Qing Yongzheng , 412 years of Qianlong, 44 years of Jiaqing 18 years, and steles are still well preserved.

Red Temple Fair is generally held for 3 days, consisting of three parts: culture, commerce and sacrifice. It attracts tourists from Zouping, Zibo , Jinan and other surrounding areas to come to visit and pray for blessings, and share the charm of the traditional filial piety culture. During this period, there were stalls such as clothing, shoes and hats, daily necessities, and wonderful performances such as Lu Opera , Peking Opera , and acrobatics; there were antique collections, souvenirs and other exhibitions; there were also various special folk snacks to give people a full taste.
