Hello everyone, I am the Ace Bike driver. Today I will bring you the analysis of light weapons in the movie " Black Hawk Down ". I don't need to say how famous this movie is. I have reached level 11 for the same name. I have never seen this movie, so I am called a military occupant. This article should be written by the editor-in-chief of death - I was urged ten times a week, and the writing was very hasty. If there are any omissions in the article, please do not point them out. Thank you everyone.
"Black Hawk Down" is a feature film in 2001, adapted from the documentary by Mark Bowden. Directed by Ridley Scott (Ridley Scott), the film is famous for its portrayal of modern warfare. The film is supported by the U.S. Department of Defense, which provides the actors with extensive and meticulous training. The instructor group includes U.S. Army Rangers and US Army Special Forces to ensure the authenticity of the film, and also allows them to shoot with real Black Hawk and "Bird" helicopters. During the production of this film, many soldiers and pilots were played by active-duty soldiers, some of whom were veterans who had participated in actual combat. The film's cast includes Josh Hartnett, Eric Barner, William Fidnernell, , , Ewan McGrady, and , Sam Sharpder, and Tom Hardy and Ian Grafard, famous Hollywood mid-zodiac film stars who participated in the film before they became famous.
rifle/carbine
Colt M727 carbine
In the movie, many special forces members of the Delta Force are equipped with Colt M727 carbine, which are equipped with various tactical accessories, such as scopes and Surefire flashlights, and some of the carbines also have specially sprayed camouflage. Delta Force Sergeant Daniel Busch (Richard Tyson), Sergeant "Hout" Gibson (Eric Barner), Sergeant Chris Wex (Kim Coates) and First-Class Sergeant Sanderson (William Fidnell) all use the M727 carbine.
In real life, the firearms used by the Delta forces in Operation Gothic Snake may be the older Colt M653 and Colt M723 carbines. The M727 carbine is more common in Rangers, while the Delta forces are not equipped much. In the movie, most M727 carbines are not appropriately equipped with Aimpoint-produced M68 CCO reflective sights (it was not launched until March 17, 1995, and later listed as SOPMOD standard equipment by the US military in 2000). During Operation Gothic Snake, some Delta Special Forces and Rangers used Aimpoint 3000 and 5000 reflective scopes.

Sgt. Daniel Busch (played by Richard Tyson) M727 carbine is equipped with an M68 reflective scope. A push-to-press flashlight switch is tied to the handguard of the carbine.
"Hey, who is hungry?!"
First-class sergeant "Hutter" Gibson (Eric Barner) used a camouflaged spray-painted M727 carbine in the "Air Target Shooting" scene, and was equipped with a Surefire flashlight (the carbine has a pressure switch tied to the guardrail).
Wicks (played by Kim Coates) and an M727 carbine, this shot was later deleted, but appeared in the extended version of "Black Hawk Down".

In the defense of the crash site, the sergeant fired with an M727 carbine.
Colt M733 carbine
Many Delta Force Special Forces and Army Rangers are equipped with short-barrel Colt 733 carbine. Rangers use the standard bare M733, while other Delta players use the custom M733, including spray-painted camouflage and Aimpoint scope (similar to the aforementioned model M727 carbine). Some M733s have an XM177-style flame suppressor , instead of the birdcage flame suppressor similar to the M16A2. Gary Gordon (Nicole Cost-Waldot) and first-class warrant officer Mike Durant (Lon Aidad) of the Delta Force later used a custom M733 carbine, which has undergone extensive modifications, including spray paint treatment, Aimpoint M68 red dot scope, gun lights and mufflers.

The M733 carbine features the upper receiver of the M16A1E1. Please pay attention to the sight of the A1 model; the customized model in the movie is the A2 upper receiver. The M733 has several upper receivers, such as A1, A1E1 and A2.

Another special forces member of the Delta Force used his M733 carbine to fight an Somali militia.
This carbine is camouflage painted, Aimpoint M68 scope and XM177-style flame suppressor. It's much like another Colt Carbines used in the movie Blood Diamond, or maybe the same gun, because both guns are provided by the same prop company.
Colt M4 carbine
In some shots involving special stunt actions, the special forces members are holding some rubber props M4 carbine that cannot be fired. They can be identified by the knobs on the handle, which shows that the handle is removable, which is the most prominent appearance feature of the M4. Using these weapons—even rubber props—is unfair, as the M4 carbine was not adopted by the U.S. military until 1994 (even the U.S. Special Forces Command did not have this gun at that time), a year after the movie incident.
(Note: Although the prototype version of the M4 was already in Operation Gothic Snake, it is conceivable that the Delta Force can use this gun, but all original M4s should use an upper receiver with non-removable handles. In addition, when the M4 was put into service in 1994, the initial standard model was the Colt M777 carbine, which was also fixed and non-removable. The flat-top receiver models were the Colt M920 and M921, two Colt carbines were eventually named M4 and M4A1, respectively. They did not start service until they purchased the M777 in 1995. According to photos of Operation Gothic Snake and enthusiasts' research, it was confirmed that the Delta Force used the Colt M653 carbine and M723 carbine.

Captain Mike Steele (Jason Isaacs) pointed out that the first-class sergeant "Hutter" Gibson (Eric Barna) did not open the carbine's insurance while serving. Hutter showed his right index finger and replied: "This is my insurance." The insurance of this gun seems to be immovable, and it is very likely that this is actually a rubber prop. (The book says that Hutter just cleared the barrel, pulled the trigger, and then inserted the magazine. Because the hammer was not in place, the bumper could not be turned when the magazine was inserted.)
Three actors who play Delta Force Special Forces in "Black Hawk Down". The special forces member on the right carries an M4 carbine. The one in the middle holds an M733 carbine prop with an XM177-style flame suppressor. Although not very obvious, the special forces on the left operated a M733 carbine (the 11.5-inch barrel can be seen in other photos in the same series).
M16A2 rifle
Most Rangers, including Sgt. Matt Eversman (played by Josh Hartnett), are equipped with M16A2 rifles. While protecting the crash site of the second Black Hawk, the first-class Sergeant Randy Schwart (played by Johnny Strong) can be seen using a M16A Rifle 2 in addition to his M14 rifle. Meanwhile, when Captain Steele told Sgt. Eversman that they had to ensure safety around the helicopter crash site, the prone Ranger in the background also carried an M16A2 rifle.
It is worth noting that during Operation Gothic Snake, the Rangers not only equipped with the M16A2, but also equipped the Colt M727 carbine, which Colt sold commercially as the "M16A2 carbine". Although the Delta troops in the movie use the M727 carbine, this is actually inaccurate because in reality they use the Colt M653 and Colt M723 carbines; Rangers in specific positions will use the M727 carbine, such as non-commissioned officers or officers. In the movie, there may be communications soldiers and medical personnel who use this carbine.

D Delta Special Forces Randy Schwart (played by Johnny Strong) switches shooting between his M14 and M16A2, while the Delta Special Forces snipers stand in a waiting place for assistance at the second crash site. This M16A2 rifle must have been found on a helicopter, because there is such a record in Mike Durant's book "The Company of Heroes", and Shugat once asked if there were any weapons on Durant's helicopter.
may be the only Ranger in the video that is crazy thrust. Rangers are usually well-trained and restrained in the use of firepower, unless, in the instructor’s words, “they have a good damn reason.” However, this battle example may be a "damn good reason."

M16A1
In the store of the Somalia arms dealer, several M16A1 rifles can be seen, and a militia is loading the bolt. In the movie "Can't Head", the Rangers can be seen watching a lunatic trying to shoot part of the protagonist with the M16A1 scope.

Heckler & Koch G3A3
The local militia used many other weapons when arming themselves, such as the Heckler & Koch G3 rifle. The old and updated G3A3 version appears in the movie. The old modification was previously considered a CETME rifle, which is incorrect - the guardrail, the magazine, and the trigger guard are not in line with the characteristics of the CETME. Fixed rear sight, usually a CETME-related identification feature, is also used in old-fashioned G3 rifles; the unique (and more common) H&K adjustable rear sight gate was first used on the G3A3.

Northern Industrial 56-1
Most Somali gunmen are equipped with the Norinco 56-1 type assault rifle, which is a Chinese imitation AK-47/AKMS. The difference between them and the original Russian products can be identified by the front sight. Only the Kalashnikov submachine gun made in China has this characteristic. In the video, one of the soldiers can be seen taking the magazine out of the Type 56-1 rifle that was thrown on the ground and loading it into an empty bag. Whether this is done to take it back as a souvenir or for other reasons is unclear.

AKS-74U
Moalimu, the leader of the Somali militia, used an AKS-74U as his weapon. His first appearance was to pick it up and check it into the battle, then fire a gun in the air, disperse the thugs who almost killed Level 3 Warrant Officer Mike Durant, and then declared that the prisoner was captured alive by him.

A Somali militia fired at the Hummer with an M60 machine gun and noticed the stray dog running next to the Hummer. During the filming process, stray dogs often run into the camera on the set. Director Ridley Scott decided to keep them in the camera to enhance the film’s authenticity. Eight stray dogs were adopted by members of the production department and brought back to the United States.
Nilsen used his M60 to fire at the Somali militia, providing suppressing fire for Eversman.

FN Minime
In the whole movie, several Rangers can be seen carrying FN Minime on their backs, which are used to replace the M249-E1 squad machine gun. This is also the weapon that Sergeant Lance Tombray (Tom Hardy) accidentally knocked Nelson to deaf when firing. Minimie in the movie contains a round 200 round shot bag instead of a hard plastic shot box. While assembled with the large army, a Somali militia shot at Tombrey and hit one of his ammunition bags, causing the ammunition to begin to explode. Fortunately, he threw away his backpack before being seriously injured.

Silence Tombray (Tom Hardy) takes his FN Minime and yells at Yurek how they almost killed him. Pay attention to the clear shots of the combat uniform and helmet cover in this photo, especially the mismatched camouflage pattern - this is not a mistake, but another precise detail in the movie - it was in the transitional stage of dressing up, and the large items were basically replaced with three-share camouflage, while the helmet cover was still six-share camouflage, while the vest was still four-cluster camouflage.
A Ranger used FN Minime to fire during the "Mogadishu Long-distance Run".
Browning M2HB
In the video, the US military equipped the Browning M2HB heavy machine gun on the Hummer, and the United Nations forces equipped it on the armored vehicles. The Somali militia also equipped the heavy machine gun on the pickup truck. The opening scenes of Somali militia massacres gathered in a food distribution center.

GE M134 Minigang
The MH-60 Black Hawk in the movie is equipped with the GE M134D Minigang machine gun as a hatch door machine gun. Minnie Hill, mounted on the stand, is installed side by side with the 2.75-inch rocket, as the main weapon of the AH-6 birdie helicopter. The Blackhawk and Bird Helicopter are props provided to the movie by the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment of the United States Army, and the installed weapons are real weapons. One of the pilots (played by Keith Jones) appears in the film is a veteran who has actually participated in the battle.

Zastava M72
One of the Somali militias fired at Mike Durant's Black Hawk, whose weapon was a Zastava M72, a copy of the RPK light machine gun that can be identified by the design of the stock and grip. Heckler & Koch MP5A3
Michael Durant (played by Ron Eldard) is a pilot of the MH-60 Black Hawk "Super 64". His equipment is MP5A3 produced by H&K company, and the guardrail is very thin. After being shot down, he used the gun to defend himself. Another MP5A3 was also picked up and used by Randy Shughart, a sniper of the Delta Force who came to support, and he was later killed by the swarm of militias. For a short period of time, the MP5 was sent to the helicopter crew as a personal defense weapon (PDW), but when the military determined that its 9x19mm ammunition lacked enough stopping effect to deal with enemies wearing body armor or drug use — just like in Somalia, the MP5 was immediately swept out by the Land Airlines. In the book and in actual actions, this weapon is actually MP5K.They are called "skinny popcorn machines" by the Army Air pilots, and they are their nickname for Somali militias.

Remington 870
Although Sanderson (William Fidnell) has never used this gun on the screen, he can be seen slung a custom Remington 870 Express Magnum (representing the 870 Police Magnum) on his right shoulder. A pistol grip (removing the folding stock. Charlie Sheen in the movie Navy SEAL also uses the same configuration shotgun. In a shot that was deleted by the official release, Sanderson bombarded the hinge on a door in the target building. This shot appeared in the director's cut, although most people didn't know about the deleted shot. In the book of the same name, at least one Delta team member installed an 8.7 master key on his CAR15.

In the real operation, a sturdy police model should be used instead of a cheaper "economy" Express Magnum, although the two are the same in appearance. The police version is the same shotgun, but it is made of a stronger material and has slightly different surface treatments.
pistol
M1911A1
M1911A1 pistol was selected as the leader by the Delta Force Special Forces Choose the secondary weapon. The highlight of this pistol is in the hands of Gordon and Schwart, two Delta snipers who try to protect the second crash site. When the somali militia approaches them, they pull out the M1911A1 pistol and knock down a group of people. Delta Force's Wicks (played by Kim Coates) also used the M1911A1 pistol at the shooting range at the beginning of the movie.

Beretta 92FS
Beretta 92FS pistol (instead of Beretta M9) appeared several times in the movie, basically in the hands of Rangers, such as Lieutenant Colonel McKnight's convoy members. McKnight himself brought his 92FS pistol as a secondary weapon to protect himself. Tombray also carries a 92FS to supplement the firepower of his FN Minimime light machine gun. It has not been used in the video and is mostly inserted into the holster.

Rocket Boost Grenade Launcher
RPG- 7
Russian-made RPG-7 rocket Boost Net Grenade Launcher is simply the highlight of this movie, shooting down two MH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. In a scene inspired by a real event, an rocket from the RPG-7 hits an unlucky Ranger driver in a M35 truck commanded by Army Lieutenant Colonel Danny McKnight. The PRG warhead failed to detonate, but instead pierced the unlucky soldier as a blunt weapon. At least one of the RPG-7s used in the movie is a rare version of the stunning product owned by the movie gun service.

Norinco Type 69 RPG
In addition to the RPG-7 type mentioned above, the militia has also used the Type 69 RPG rocket launcher of China Northern Industrial Corporation. The Type 69 also appears to be loading the PG-7VL rockets instead of the more common PG-7VM rockets, which can be distinguished from the larger warheads.

The lieutenant of the Ranger took out an M72A3 LAW rocket launcher and killed an armed pickup truck when the battle was in full swing. The M72A3 is an improved model of the M72 rocket launcher after the Vietnam War and is also the last M72 improved model used by the US military. The upgraded version (currently upgraded to M72A7) LAW was still equipped by the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps until 2007. Canadian troops and other NATO countries have also used it in Afghanistan .

SPG-9 Recoilless Cannon
In the video, Aidid's militia bombarded most of the Rangers and Delta troops as bunker buildings with mortars and SPG-9 Recoilless Cannons. A group of Delta players led by Hut quickly killed the gunner, then turned around and used this recoilless cannon to deal with the Somali militia, killing many enemies in one shot. Before Hutter's squad met with Iversman, he used this gun to destroy the peripheral fire point.Interestingly, according to the audio reviews on DVD, this Robin Hood-like plot never happened and was made up by the screenwriters.

Cobray CM203 grenade launcher
Many M16A2 rifles of the Ranger are equipped with Cobray CM203 37mm grenade launcher to replace the M203 grenade launcher. The most representative one is the one in Captain Steele's hand. Please refer to Cobray's information on how to distinguish them.

Although most Ranger M16A2 rifles are installed with Cobray CM203 37mm grenade launchers, there are actually several real genuine M203 grenade launchers. The most representative of them is John Grimes (played by Ewan McGregor ) who assisted the Delta to bomb an armed pickup truck with M203. After missing the first round, he immediately switched to the high-explosive dual-purpose grenade (HEDP) and used M203 to blow the opponent.
