Overnight, the Nepal king Bilandra family was slaughtered. Not only the king himself was killed, but even his queen, two sons, a daughter and three sisters were not spared.
This palace tragedy, in terms of accidents and bloodiness, is comparable to the bloody wedding in "Game of Thrones". So what happened that day?
Before 2008, Nepal had always implemented a monarchy. According to Nepali royal tradition, on the third Friday of each month (calculated according to the Nepali calendar), royal members gather at the Narayanhiti Palace for banquets.
On the evening of June 1, 2001, the banquet was held as scheduled, and everyone drank and laughed, and everything was no different from usual.
If you have to say something abnormal, Crown Prince Dipandra doesn't seem to be in a good mood. He keeps drinking and pours wine into his stomach one by one.
Crown Prince Dipandra was soon drunk, and his two younger brothers helped him back to the room.
The dinner was not affected by the absence of Crown Prince Dipandra. As for young people, it is understandable that they are greedy for cups.

After drinking three rounds and after the dishes, the Crown Prince Dipandra, who had been drunk for a long time, returned to the banquet in a military uniform. He also held an MP5 submachine gun and an M16 assault rifle in his hands.
Then, something unexpected happened.

Crown Prince Dipandra took advantage of the alcohol and took submachine gun and shot at the crowd. For a moment, the hot shells and gushing blood became the theme of the banquet, and gunfire and shouts were in chaos.
Dipandra shot and killed his father, King Bilandra, his mother, Queen Aishwarya, and nine members of the royal family, including his younger brother and sister.
Then, he came to a small bridge leading to the palace, where he committed suicide by drinking and committing suicide.
However, Dipandra was unable to kill himself immediately. He was rushed to the hospital and then fell into a three-day coma.
Since the king is dead, although Crown Prince Dipandra is the murderer of the regicide, he is also the first legal heir. So, the unconscious Crown Prince Dipandra transformed into the king of Nepal, of course, a short-lived king who "ruled" Nepal for three days in a coma.
Three days later, Dipandra died, the king's throne changed hands again, and Dipandra's uncle Janandra became the new king.

June 3, when Dipandra was still alive, Gianandra believed that the shooting was the result of " shot fired ". Obviously no one would believe this statement. Later, Janandra himself admitted that the reason why he said so at that time was purely because Dipandra was the incumbent king. According to the laws of Nepal at that time, the king could not be accused of murder.
After Depandra's death, the then-Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Speaker of the House of Representatives conducted a week-long investigation. The investigation asked more than a hundred people, including witnesses and court officials, guards and staff, and it was confirmed that Dipandra carried out the shooting.
For the motivation, the official conclusion was that Dipandra fell in love with a girl named Jeviani Rana, but the king and the queen both firmly opposed the marriage because the girl's family background was too ordinary. Crown Prince Dipandra became less stable as a result, so he finally started killing at the dinner party.

However, Nepalese people obviously do not buy into such remarks, because many facts and evidence show that the report of the investigation team seems to be in conflict in many ways. Even Dipandra's assistant said: "Dipandra can give up the throne for love, but he won't do this.”
June 4, 2001, the day after Dipandra died, Janandra couldn't wait to be crowned and ascended the throne.
Angry Nepalese people walked on the streets of Kathmandu and expressed dissatisfaction with what Janandra did. The demonstration once turned into a riot, causing two deaths and 19 injuries.
Angry crowd pointed out that Dipandra was innocent and the real murderer was Janandra.
On the day of the shooting, Janandra happened to be on vacation elsewhere, and all the opponents who stopped him from reaching the throne died in the shooting; and King Bilandra All families were killed, but no one died in the Janandra family: his son Prince Pallas escaped due to minor injuries, and his wife was hit by a bullet, but he survived.
In this tragedy, Janandra was definitely the biggest beneficiary. But the root of the disaster was laid down. The new king Janandra and his son Crown Prince Pallas never gained the support of the subjects.
The new king who lost the support of the people also failed to hold the throne. In 2008, the Nepal Constitutional Congress officially announced the abolition of the monarchy and the establishment of a republic. Janandra had to give up his power, leave the Narayanhiti Palace, and live the life of an ordinary person.
