On March 23, 2021 local time, Taiwan's Ever GIVEN "Ever Given" ship (EVER GIVEN) was stranded above the Suez Canal , attracting global attention. The Suez Canal is one of the most important maritime transport channels in the world. This canal blockage has made the global supply chain "like a thorn in the throat". As one of the few maritime institutions in the world that "enjoy internationally renowned", recently, the Institute of Marine Law and Culture of Dalian Maritime University held a "Ever Given" Suez Canal Stranding Incident in response to the causes, impacts and inspirations of the incident.

(Singapore), Captain Tian Daichang, General Manager of Singapore Hefeng Shipping Co., Ltd., Captain Meng Qingkui, Captain Zhang Zhifeng of Shandong Maritime Group, Senior Lecturer Song Meixian of the School of Law of University of Southampton, UK, Professor Zhu Jinshan, Dr. Cao Xingguo and Dr. Liu Chenhong, full-time researcher of the Institute of Marine Law and Culture of Dalian Maritime University, and some graduate students of the School of Law attended the seminar.
Seminar focuses on several topics such as the possible causes of the Evergier Stranding Accident, follow-up disposal measures, legal relations and enlightenment to the future, and experts and scholars at the meeting combined their own shipping management experience or navigation experience of the Suez Canal, and provided useful think tank suggestions for how to build a safe maritime supply chain in my country from the aspects of navigation technology, ship operations, pilotage rules, shipwreck rescue, insurance claims, and large ship construction and navigation policies. The experts at the meeting unanimously agreed that it is necessary to take this incident as a starting point, and fully utilizes the role of the new think tank of the Institute of Marine Rule and Culture of Dalian Maritime University, and conducts in-depth research on regularly.
