In the early days of the Republic of China, Zhang Jingjiang was a great man with a high status. Sun Yat-sen called him a "revolutionary saint" and Chiang Kai-shek also called him a "revolutionary mentor".

Why did Sun Yat-sen and Chiang Kai-shek give Zhang Jingjiang such a high evaluation? Because he spent the first half of his life revolving around these two people, it would be difficult for Sun Yat-sen and Chiang Kai-shek to achieve such great achievements without Zhang Jingjiang.

Zhang Jingjiang is an absolute rich man. He was born in 1877 in Nanxun Town, Huzhou, Zhejiang. His family and his grandfather's family were both rich at that time, and their family property exceeded 10 million taels of silver. When he was 21 years old, his family donated a second-rank alternate title to Zhang Jingjiang and came to Paris with the Chinese ambassador to France.

It was during his time in Paris that Zhang Jingjiang met Sun Yat-sen. Because he hated the corruption and incompetence of the Qing government, he quickly accepted Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary thoughts.

Sun Yat-sen was very difficult to engage in revolutionary activities in the early days and was exhausted. It was mainly because it was too difficult to raise revolutionary funds. But since he met Zhang Jingjiang, this problem has been solved.

Zhang Jingjiang's business talent is very high. After arriving in France, he started a Tongyun Company and made countless money. After meeting Sun Yat-sen, he said to Sun Yat-sen calmly: "I have made a lot of money in France over the years. If you have any needs, please give it to me." He also made an agreement with Sun Yat-sen to contact the secret codes A, B, C, D, and E, representing 10,000 to 50,000 francs respectively, which made Sun Yat-sen grateful.

After the Second Revolution, a large number of revolutionaries were hunted down by Yuan Shikai. Sun Yat-sen was very anxious, but he could only watch one revolutionary backbone die in a pool of blood. At this time, Zhang Jingjiang stood up again and said to Sun Yat-sen: "I haven't been exposed yet. I will do my best to save one."

At that time, although Zhang Jingjiang was not exposed, he was in danger, but he used his chivalrous courage to cover up a large number of revolutionaries who escaped to Japan successfully with his identity as a businessman. During this period, he risked his life to successfully plan the assassination of Yuan Shikai's accomplice and the commander of the Second Army Xu Baoshan.

After Sun Yat-sen was seriously ill in Beijing, Zhang Jingjiang made a special trip from Shanghai to Beijing. At this time, he was seriously ill and could not even stand. But after arriving in Beijing, he kept guarding Sun Yat-sen until Sun Yat-sen passed away and signed Sun Yat-sen's will as one of the witnesses on the scene.

If Zhang Jingjiang and Sun Yat-sen were close friends of the revolution, then he and Chiang Kai-shek were both teachers and friends.

There are two people who Chiang Kai-shek respected most in his life, one is Sun Yat-sen and the other is Zhang Jingjiang. He once described the two: " I say that Mr. Sun treats his friends, and his goodness is so happy that he can make people fear power and virtue; Jingjiang treats his friends, and his goodness is so good that he can't speak in detail, which makes those who hear it feel ashamed of ."

Zhang Jingjiang met Chiang Kai-shek when he was treating his illness in Shanghai. At that time, Chiang Kai-shek was a young man with ambition to revolution. Although he was down and out, his posture was not over. Zhang Jingjiang felt that this young man would become a great man in the future, so he became brothers with him and recommended Chiang Kai-shek to Sun Yat-sen in the subsequent revolution.

Chiang Kai-shek was poor when he was in Shanghai. He first learned to do business with Zhang Jingjiang, but he had no brains and paid for whatever he did. As a result, he owed a lot of debts and kept borrowing money from Zhang Jingjiang. There were dozens of IOUs alone, and they are still stored in the archives. Anyway, Zhang Jingjiang was not short of money and would respond to Chiang Kai-shek's request.

In the summer of 1922, Chen Jiongming betrayed the revolution and bombarded the Presidential Palace, and Sun Yat-sen was forced to move to the Zhongshan ship. At this time, Zhang Jingjiang resolutely asked Chiang Kai-shek to board the ship and served Sun Yat-sen for more than 40 days, thus gaining Sun Yat-sen's trust, and then the later principal of the Whampoa Military Academy and commander-in-chief of the Northern Expedition Army.

Later, Chiang Kai-shek racked his brains to seize the highest power. Whenever he fell into the state of being alone, Zhang Jingjiang, a heavyweight, would stand on his side, help him through difficulties, support him, and help him.

Chiang Kai-shek was also very grateful to Zhang Jingjiang. He once said that after meeting Zhang Jingjiang, he was like encountering sunshine. Every time he encountered the "cold winter", Zhang Jingjiang would bring warmth and call him a "revolutionary mentor".

But later, Zhang Jingjiang had a conflict with Chiang Kai-shek. He insisted on national construction, but Chiang Kai-shek specialized in monopolizing the power. In the end, Zhang Jingjiang had to leave the United States and studied Buddhism quietly for the rest of his life. He died of illness in New York in 1950.

After the news of Zhang Jingjiang's death reached Taiwan, Chiang Kai-shek personally arranged his memorial service and cried in tears at the memorial service. According to the memories of the guards around Chiang Kai-shek, on that day, Chiang Kai-shek seemed to have suddenly become ten years older.
