What kind of sparks will the two collide with jazz music from the United States meet Chinese local music? From August 26 to 31, the 2022 Taihu Jazz Festival will be held at the Taihu Open-air Theater in the National Grand Theater in Tongzhou District, Beijing. During the 5-day music festival, 14 orchestras and nearly 100 jazz performers will show the audience the latest artistic style of world jazz to the audience through offline performances, online live broadcasts, famous teacher lectures and other rich forms, and present the brilliant and colorful Chinese jazz culture.
Jazz is a unique and charming art form in the history of Western music in the 20th century. It is characterized by improvisation, swinging rhythm, distinctive instrumental and vocal tone, and the strong personal style of the performer. Today, jazz has a large following around the world and has a high appeal among young audiences. In 2021, the National Grand Theater created a new performance brand "Taihu Jazz Festival", allowing free and leisurely jazz to be played in the sub-center of the city.

"In this year's music festival, I will bring many works adapted from traditional Chinese repertoire, many of which are the first performances." Jazz trumpet performer Li Xiaochuan said, "Thanks to the National Grand Theater for providing such a platform that allows more musicians to perform original Chinese contemporary jazz music works. This is a very rare opportunity!"
"Jazz is not just a kind of music, it also represents a lifestyle, attitude towards life, and thinking method. It is formed through the communication and integration of different cultures, musical instruments, and people." Wang Hong, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Musicians Association, said. In order to create a lifestyle experience that blends with jazz, this music festival is presented in the form of "offline performance + online live broadcast + casual experience + famous teacher lectures", hoping to bring an immersive jazz experience journey to the audience.
