According to Taiwan's China Times Electronic News, the voting day for the 2020 Taiwan leadership election is getting closer, bringing both the "blue and green" parties to the medium-term sprint stage. However, Tainan City, which has a "green camp iron ticket warehouse", has grassroots subordinates raided out of the Democratic Progressive Party. Shi Bainan, the head of the Nanxingli Lieutenant, issued a statement to quit the party, mentioning that although the DPP is now fully "in power", it cannot see the values and concepts that the DPP has adhered to in the past. However, the factions within the party still attack each other for political interests and widen the rift. There is no reason to fight with the DPP.
Shi Bainan issued a "Declaration of Withdrawal from the DPP" on Facebook yesterday (October 31). He said that although the DPP is now fully "in power", he cannot see the values and concepts that the DPP has adhered to in the past. In the current situation of irrational opposition between political parties, Taiwan continues to fall into ethnic rifts and social progress is urgently needed to be repaired, but the factions within the party are still attacking each other for political interests and expanding the rift.
Shi Bainan said that in the past four years of the DPP's "ruling", the policies promoted by it have ignored the true feelings of the grassroots people, and are very different from his ideas and beliefs. Therefore, I formally applied to the Tainan Municipal Party Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party to quit the Party. After quitting the Party in the future, I will serve the people as an "unparty member" and continue to stand with the people.
