China News Service, May 31, According to Taiwan media reports, at around 1 a.m. today, a 43-year-old man named Cai rode his bicycle with a bottle of gasoline at the Kuomintang Central Party Department to set fire. The on-site security personnel urgently called the police to arrest people. After the police inquired, they would be transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office for investigation.

Police said that they received a report at around 1 a.m. today, alleging that the Kuomintang Central Party Headquarters on Bade Road, Zhongshan District, Taipei City were set on fire. Fortunately, after emergency treatment by the on-site preservation personnel, the carpet in the lobby was burned, and the police present also arrested the arson suspect.
KMT said it expressed strong regrets about this incident and condemned any violent and irrational behavior; the KMT also said it would strengthen preservation measures in the future to avoid recurrence of regrets, and hoped that the police would investigate in detail whether anyone instructed the violence to solve the case as soon as possible to calm people's hearts.
Kuomintang stressed that violent incidents have spread frequently recently and the society is filled with uneasiness. The authorities have the responsibility to maintain public security, stabilize social order, and allow the people to live and work in peace and contentment.
