Hefei's "Love Kitchen" is behind every wisp of fireworks. Love and Life
is called "the closest home to the hospital" by the patient's family
at 11 a.m. on October 10, Room 203, Building 8, Wenjin New City Community, Hefei Economic and Technological Development Zone, was filled with the entire kitchen with tempting aroma of food. This place is only one way away from Anyi University Second Affiliated Hospital. It mainly serves families of poor leukemia patients in other places. It is a small kitchen for caring medical assistance (hereinafter referred to as "Love Kitchen"). Since its establishment in 2018, it has received more than 100 families and provided cooking for patients' families for free more than 6,000 times. It is affectionately called the "home closest to the hospital" by the patients' families.

Solve the problems of cooking in the patient's family
Li Dabin, the head of the Starlight Charity Service Center in Luyang District, Hefei, has come into contact with children with leukemia because they often do charity. During his long-term visits, he found that many families with leukemia in the hospital face two difficulties. One is cooking, the other is housing. Especially when cooking, many children with leukemia have special dietary requirements. Parents can only cook by themselves, but they have no room to cook and can only spend money to cook in restaurants. After discussion, the
Charity Service Center decided to set up a loving kitchen to provide free cooking for the families of leukemia patients in other places. In 2018, with the support of the Love Foundation, Love Kitchen began to be built in Wenjin New City Community.
Li Dabin said that the landlord is an old man and was once a doctor from the Second Affiliated Hospital of An Medical University. After learning about his thoughts, he not only did not mind, but also took the initiative to rent the house to him. In the past four years, no rent has increased.
In order to facilitate the patient's family to cook, the love kitchen rice, noodles, grain and oil are all provided for free. In July this year, the kitchen was upgraded and renovated. The expanded kitchen can accommodate 5 patients and families to cook at the same time. In addition, there are two bedrooms in the room, which can provide free accommodation for patients' families to stay.
The family members of patients who came to visit
More and more
At noon every day, the kitchen was already full of lively, and the family members who came to cook were busy. During the busy intervals, the patients' families communicated with each other and gathered together to keep warm. Without the heavy weight in the ward, they were much happier.
volunteer Li Xin is a nearby social worker. In her spare time, she will come to the Love Kitchen to provide logistical services to the patients' families. She told reporters that the demand for kitchens is getting bigger and bigger, and among everyone's word of mouth, more and more parents come to consult. In order to help people in need as much as possible, Caring Kitchen currently takes care of patients with difficulties in family conditions.
Li Xin said that in the love kitchen, there is a story about life behind every wisp of fireworks. Yang Qiang (pseudonym), who is from 's world leader, has a 3-year-old son who is diagnosed with leukemia. He brought his son to Fei to treat the disease alone. Under the introduction of his patients, he came to the Love Kitchen.
Here, he is one of the few dads who can cook good food. Sometimes, the hospital cannot be opened and there is no time to cook for the child. The family members in other wards will cook more food and deliver it to the father and son. Gradually, Yang Qiang was used to cooking more every day and brought it to patients in the same ward. "Short-term treatment is difficult to rent a house outside. When you come here, you can not only cook for free, but also stay for free, which solves our worries." Yang Qiang said.
Love Kitchen
Hope more caring volunteers
can join
While providing convenience to patients' families, the families are also doing their best to "protect" it. After cooking every day, the family will clean the kitchen, clean it up, and take away the garbage left behind; when the kitchen stove fails, the family members who can repair it will take care of the repair work...
Li Dabin told reporters that in addition to the hard work of the volunteers, the support of caring people is inseparable from the support of caring people. Ms. Zhang, a caring person, runs a supermarket in Hefei and often rides a bike to bring rice, flour, grain, oil and seasonings to the love kitchen; a caring person from Zhejiang donated thousands of yuan after learning about the love kitchen... As of now, nearly 100 caring people have extended a helping hand.
"In addition to economic pressure, we also lack volunteers." Li Dabin said that Love Kitchen currently has 6 volunteers, all of whom work part-time and schedule weekly shifts. Once someone asks for leave, it is difficult to find a substitute. I hope more volunteers can join in to maintain the operation of the love kitchen. The responsibilities of volunteers are not complicated, they are responsible for registering personnel, cleaning, and guiding the use of kitchen appliances and materials registration.
