Modern scientific research has become a huge social activity, and physics, chemistry, biology and various other research is rarely done by a person who can do many scientific experiments. ——No matter how big his talent or how high his IQ is. Modern scientific activities are to gather the expertise and talents of many people, and to help each other, to make something happen. ——Li Yuanzhe
Character Encyclopedia:
Li Yuanzhe was born in Hsinchu , Taiwan on November 29, 1936. After obtaining a master's degree in 1961, he went to the United States to study the following year, became a U.S. citizen in 1974, and in the same year he went to teach at the University of California, Berkeley, and was elected as an academician of the American Academy of Sciences in 1979. He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1986.
1986 and Dudley Hirschbach of Harvard University and John Polani of , the University of Toronto, Canada, won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry to recognize their research results in reaction kinetics using cross-molecular bundle experimental methods. Among them, Li Yuanzhe studied: applying the cross-molecular beam experimental method to general chemical reactions, especially studying chemical reactions of larger molecules; using laser to excite molecules or atoms that have been accelerated but have not yet collided, in order to control the type of chemical reactions.
On January 15, 1994, he gave up his American nationality and returned to Taiwan, serving as the former president of the Institute of Central Research, an academician of the American Academy of Humanities and Sciences, an academician of the American Academy of Humanities and Sciences, an academician of the American National Academy of Sciences, and a Göttingen Academy of Sciences, Germany. He is also the first Taiwanese in China to win the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
