Iga Swiatek continues her 2022 lead in tennis after defeating Japanese player Naomi Osaka in the Miami Open final.

The Polish player was confirmed to be the new world number one on Monday, and before coming to Florida, she won consecutive championships in Doha and Indian Wells.

The 2020 French Open champion won 17 consecutive victories by easily defeating her opponent 6-4 and 6-0.

This 20-year-old player has also become the first female player to win the first three WTA events in a season.

She also became the fourth female player to win the Indian Wells and Miami event championships in the same season, but she is the youngest.

The Polish player also won the championship in Rome last season, so she has won four championships in the six WTA events she has participated in in the past.

Sviatke has won all of the last six finals since losing in the final of the first tour in 2019.
