Recently, the Water Conservancy Engineering Department of the Taipei Municipal Government’s Water Conservancy Engineering Department invited 8 designers to create two new featured manhole covers in Beitou District, Shilin District, Zhongshan District, Songshan District, Neihu District, Xinyi District, Da'an District, Wenshan District and other areas. It is planned to be installed before the end of September 2022, adding a new style to Taipei Street.
This is a plan for the sewer characteristic manhole cover "Taipei Water Cover" promoted by the Taipei Water Conservancy Department. It was piloted in 2020 in Nangang District, Datong District, Zhongzheng District and Wanhua District. It was launched by 4 design teams to launch 8 manhole cover patterns rich in local characteristics. While breaking the monotonous impression of manhole covers, it also leads everyone to pay attention to the scenery under their feet again. The 60 colored manhole covers installed in the eight administrative districts of Taipei are given priority on pedestrian roads. The location first considers the surface or hot-sleep zones and important traffic sections, as well as theme or regional nodes, and also includes YouBike's neighboring places, allowing people to find special manhole covers in every corner of Taipei City.
