When visiting Gukeng Township, Yunlin County, Taiwan, "Why is it called Yunlin? Why is it called Gukeng?" These are the questions I am thinking about along the way. In the previous article, I concluded about Yunlin County: the place where "cloud towns are full of" , that is, the place where "cloud hometown, a place where studded" . And what does ancient pit mean? This time I didn't dare to guess the meaning, but after searching through Google, I finally got the answer.

First of all, why is it called "Ancient Pit"? It is said that there are many sayings:

• Ancient pit was formerly called "Ancient pit". It may have originated from the early days of reclamation and planting Ancient pits in the pit valley. It was called this; in 1920, it was renamed "Ancient pit".
• Another saying is that in ancient times there was a couple who specialized in making a living by making irons. The place where they lived was named "Iron Keng". The couple was very loving and the residents envied them, so they called this place "Huipazikeng". Because of their inelegance, they were renamed "An Gukeng" which means a warm ancient nest, and was renamed "Gukeng Township" when the administrative district was adjusted.

The homestay converted from an ancient house has no sense of incongruity

As the car slowly climbed the mountain, after countless windings, I could hardly sit in the seat in the car, but I was extremely excited, because every time the car turned, I could see a completely different view outside the window. The same car that kept moving towards the top of the mountain seemed to have a different feeling. The clouds floating in the mountains filled the mountain road, faint but not hindered the visual feeling, as if I was in the clouds, it was another different feeling. Just like this, with beautiful scenery inside and out, I finally arrived at the homestay where I booked my accommodation.

Strangely, this is a homestay that has not yet been named, and I thought to myself: Is this another new marketing method? Or is there another reason? Anyway, during this trip to the Yunlin Ancient Keng, I was full of curiosity, many questions and many expectations at the beginning, so I don’t care about these for the time being.

Get off the car and looked, I realized that the environment here is really too beautiful. At this moment, I couldn't calm down and check in, but I just kept looking around to appreciate the visual enjoyment given to me by nature.

This is a B&B located next to the mountaineering road, but it is particularly closed next to the road - because there is a dedicated downhill trail next to the mountaineering road, it is the only way to enter the B&B, so it is relatively closed and quiet. You can tell at a glance that this is a homestay made of an ancient house. It is not difficult to see the ingenuity of the owner of the homestay. He kept the ancient house well and built a small floor with modern methods on the other side, but it coordinated with the ancient house just right, without any sense of incongruity.

There are scenery in front and behind the house. The open foreground can overlook the scenery in the mountains. From a distance, you can see the scenes woven by clouds and green forests like in Chinese paintings. It is really beautiful. The owner used a very simple technique to design an elegant and exquisite small scenery, which matched with the surrounding natural landscape, and was almost impossible to see artificial techniques. As expected, the owner here turned out to be the well-known Architect Guo, so his requirements for the environment and landscape are to deal with the overall environment in the technique of "not destroying or overshadowing the main". What’s more valuable is that this is the owner’s hometown! In this way, I understand better that his spirit of cherishing and respecting his ancestors' ancient houses is admirable and worthy of praise. Since I had to climb another high to a place called "Caoling", I paused the conversation and made an appointment with each other to talk to each other tonight.

Accompanied by friends, he got in the car again and continued driving on the mountain. In the same situation, the beautiful scenery along the way and the beautiful scenery everywhere, it takes about 10 minutes to arrive at Caoling Villa. General Manager Lai, the owner of the villa, came out enthusiastically to greet our party. As the dusk is approaching, the earth begins to appear quiet and soft. The clear water stream overlooking in front of the villa can be vaguely visible. Although the sound of gurgling water cannot be heard, the majestic water flows downstream like a galloping horse, like a wanderer who is eager to return home, without even looking back. He probably hopes to return to his hometown before the dark night and head straight for him.

The scene also seems to tell me: It’s too late for you to arrive in Caoling, why not come back again? Caoling, which is setting sun, even though it is too late, still gives me the wonderfulness of the twilight. It has thrown my belated resentment behind me, and quietly captures the beautiful scenery of the twilight and puts it into my heart. In addition, I had no choice but to end my visit to Caoling Villa with delicious food. Leave comments about "Exclusively enjoying the beautiful scenery, clouds and grass ridges" and "Scenery on the ridge, clouds and grass ridges".

This homestay that has no name caught me off guard

July, the sunset of Gukeng Caoling is slowly walking. As the sun and the moon shines, I just look at the setting sun and the rising moonlight, and I return to the warm homestay. With the memories of Caoling Villa, I returned to the B&B and met the host of the B&B. The couple welcomed me in a very special way, and felt that they intended to surprise me. A pot of firewood was lit in midsummer, which looked particularly warm in the slightly cold wind in the mountains and showed the owner's enthusiasm.

I never expected that the group would chat until one point late at night without realizing it. What made us forget time and time? unknown! In short, pleasant communication is an unforgettable memory. What is particularly incomprehensible is why the owner failed to name the homestay? It turns out that so far, he has only received close relatives and friends; in the near future, guests who love the natural environment will visit here, and he will welcome everyone with the owner of the ancient house.

During the meal, the host's wife suddenly gave me a topic: I hope I will give their homestay a name! Although I was caught off guard by the sudden request, I was happy to accept this task. After understanding the entire environment and atmosphere, I promised to give this "no nameless" B&B in the near future to end the visit to Caoling Village, Gukeng Township, Yunlin County.
