  According to China News Service, Taipei, February 18, Li Duzhong, a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering of Taiwan University, was fined NT$300,000 for violating the "Cross-Strait People's Relations Regulations" for presiding over the research plan of the National Natural Science Foundation of China without permission. Qiu Chui-zheng, deputy chairman and spokesperson of the Mainland Affairs Council, said this afternoon that the Mainland Affairs Council will continue to work with relevant agencies to understand whether there are any Taiwanese faculty and scientific researchers involved in the Mainland's key research and development plans. If violations of regulations are found, they will be investigated and dealt with in accordance with the law.
