Murata will supply 1 billion MLCCs with low-income numbers "0201" to Heshuo every month by the end of the year. This move may affect the price increase trend of MLCC in the second half of the year. This led to a sharp drop in MLCC stocks afterwards, and Guoju, Fenghua Hi-Tech and others hit the limit. However, the dramatic scene is that last night, Murata official denied the rumor and denied reaching an MLCC supply contract with Pegatron.
According to the statement on the official website of Murata Production, "Some media have mistakenly reported the multi-layer ceramic capacitors we supply. These reports have no factual basis. Murata Production hopes to clearly state through this statement that Murata did not make such an announcement. We will do our best to keep up with customer needs." In this way, the out-of-stock form of MLCC in the second half of this year is still very serious.
Even if Murata really supplies Pegatron with 1 billion "0201" MLCC to Pegatron and Yingyeda every month, it may be difficult to have a substantial impact on the overall market out of stock.
Currently, the most shortage of MLCC is 0402 and 0603. Although 0201 can replace the former to a certain extent, since 0201 is mainly used on smartphones, if you want to use laptops, tablets or other electronic products, you need to modify the PCB motherboard, but board and manufacturers need to modify the board, one requires a cycle, and the other requires customer consent. Moreover, there are not many supply companies for 1 billion per month. You should know that a smartphone may require 1,000. Therefore, even if Murata supplies 1 billion per month to Pegasus, it may be difficult to change the current out-of-stock situation in the entire MLCC market.
However, it should be pointed out that 0201 replaces 0402 may be a trend in the future, because 0201 has more advanced technology, less electrolytic aluminum materials are needed, and the cost can be lower. At the same time, the impact on environmental protection is also small (an important reason for the out of stock of 0402 is that it is limited in production capacity). Many manufacturers are increasing the output of 0201. At the same time, according to Xinzhixun, many board manufacturers are currently actively modifying boards to 0201 to cope with the situation of 0402 being out of stock and high prices.
