| 2021 Nest Award -Villa Space Gold Award Works|
, a seemingly simple but actually complex concept.
solves our relationship with the world and is the last line of defense for us to compete with external intrusions; the family also needs to solve our relationship with ourselves, and is the spiritual territory for us to explore inwardly and strengthen inner prosperity.
This is a single-family villa located on the side of the mountain outside Chengdu. Usually only the owners are resting here alone, reading, writing, and occasionally having friends gather.
owner requirements:
2. There is no air conditioner and no ceiling
3. Function is the first, don’t deliberately pursue style, try to weaken the decoration in the traditional sense
Designer has completed a silent internal transformation of moistening things on the basis of keeping the space introverted and restrained and trying not to reveal artificial traces, restoring the daily truth and spiritual nature of life.
::
Living room Living Room
The first floor design is broken into pieces, and The living room, dining room, and kitchen non-load-bearing wall all removed . On the wall of the living room that is 7 meters high, large windows five meters high are set up on one side, integrating the indoor and outdoor into a maximum scale.
When the shadows of the tree sway and the sunshine and green shadows sprinkle in, the whole space has a different natural charm and quiet feeling.
The designer directly exposed the original and unique beam and wood structure of the ceiling, creating a dialogue between the new and the old. This new and old relationship is also used in soft decoration matching, such as old wooden cabinets with modern abstract art paintings.
::
Dining & Kitchen
combines the open kitchen and the dining room into one, forming a 6-meter-long one-line kitchen structure to meet daily use. cabinet is specially customized into the same walnut color as furniture, retro and elegant at the same time, showing a silky and bright state.
The viewing window of the restaurant was replaced with the entire glass, and the shadows of the trees outside the window seemed to be framed into the painting. The different textures of the four seasons bring insights about life cycles.
Here, the wall is repeatedly retreating, and the space is continuously expanded, giving up all decorations, all colors, all symbols and forms, so that the space returns to transparency and freedom, and life returns to life itself. This is the ultimate power of space.
::Stair Stair
The design simplifies unnecessary decoration as much as possible, simple glass handrails, and self-leveling stair steps. Behind everything that seems simple actually contains complex construction steps, just like life.
A 1.5-meter-diameter flower pond was added below the stairs. Only one tree was planted for the time being, and the owners could freely play it out in the future. The frameless curved floor-to-ceiling glass exterior wall is surrounded by four pieces of 6-meter high heat-bent glass.
Here, we can feel the space growing from the inside to the outside, and at the same time presents a private form with strong independence, as if it is stamped with a personal imprint. The non-load-bearing walls on the first floor of
have almost all been removed, presenting an open state, echoing the 7-meter vertical height, allowing the space to continue and flow.
The second floor re-planning and combining functional spaces according to different light, field of view and needs to form different spatial forms and scales to enhance the living experience and sense of space care.
::Master bedroom Host Bedroom
The warm wooden floor in the bedroom carries out the emotions of space, the use of a large amount of cement self-leveling , the exposed treatment of the top space, and the white latex painted walls constantly transform and extend the space in a simple and delicate way. All of this allows the space to gain the essential power, making it a perceived and exploreable part of daily life.
walnut is used throughout the floor, door, custom desk and bed. A pine cone lamp is placed in the middle, creating a faint forest atmosphere for the room.
The mottled tree shadows shine into the room, and the sun and green shadows sprinkle in, and the whole space has a different natural charm and quiet feeling.
:: Bathroom Bathroom
Bathroom adopts a two-separated design. The retro chandeliers on both sides of the basin complement each other with the uniquely shaped arched mirrors, bringing a unique harmony and softness to the bathroom.
Since the owner lives alone, it is separated by transparent glass doors, and does not show any obstruction and congestion. The floating shower stool can be placed or sit on it. It is paired with bathroom cabinet , which is visually lighter.
:: CourtyardCourtyard
There is a rich tree shade outside and a vibrant inner corresponding, showing the poetic expression of the space.
It is not difficult to imagine that the designer's changes to the original building can be said to be drastic. Under such a large spatial scale, how to make the space clear and transparent is due to the designer's control over the spatial order.
Daily life is often trivial, chaotic and disorderly, but the clean space cutting method and clear planning of space dynamics can allow fragmented modern daily life to be at ease, so that space can discover spiritual and emotional richness and purity from the contradiction between material richness and spiritual deprivation caused by modern civilization.
