Affected by the "9.5" Luding earthquake, the rural water supply facilities in Moxi Town in the epicenter were damaged to varying degrees. At the Hailuogou Glacier Water Industry Water Plant located in Caiyangping Village, the earthquake caused the water supply pipeline of the water plant to break and the water plant equipment was damaged, and the water production and water supply capacity was lost.
"In the first few days after the earthquake, emergency bottled water can still be guaranteed to everyone's drinking, but the demand for water use in laundry, bathing, cooking and other places at the back will continue to increase. If new water sources cannot be opened in time, it will not be conducive to maintaining order in the resettlement site." A relevant person in charge of the Water Supply Department of the Sichuan Rural Water Conservancy Center said that in the early stage of the earthquake, it is urgent to ensure that the resettlement site can achieve emergency water supply as soon as possible.
Meishan Water Conservancy Water Supply Rescue Team finds new water sources for villagers in the valley of Moxi Town
Sichuan Provincial Water Resources Department quickly deploys Meishan , Leshan , Suining Water Conservancy Department draws professional and technical personnel to form 5 water supply rescue teams with a total of 48 people, and goes to Moxi Town and Detuo Town in Luding County to carry out emergency water supply guarantee and emergency repair work for water supply projects. On the evening of September 7, two water supply rescue teams organized by Meishan Water Conservancy Bureau and Suining Water Conservancy Bureau arrived in Moxi Town.
"Before, the water source of the water plant was on the mountain, and the pipeline was paved from several kilometers to more than ten kilometers. Due to road blockage and other reasons, the original water supply line cannot be opened in a short time. After our investigation and consultation, we decided to find temporary water sources for the villages that have lost their water supply." Hu Tao said that after these days of continuous struggle, the resettlement sites of Caiyangping Village and Qinggangping Village, which were responsible for the Meishan Water Conservancy Water Supply Rescue Team, have achieved emergency water supply.
Qinggangping Village branch secretary Lu Dongcai said, "Yesterday, the water at the resettlement site in our village was also open, and everyone's daily water use was guaranteed. Today is Mid-Autumn Festival, so everyone can celebrate the holiday with peace of mind."
Suining Water Conservancy Water Supply and Rescue Team repaired the water supply pipeline in Moxi Town
. In Moxi Town, the Hailuogou Scenic Area Water Supply and Drainage Co., Ltd. Water Plant, which is responsible for water supply, has two of the three water intake pipes that are damaged and cannot be used. In response to this, the Suining Water Conservancy Water Supply Team, which carried out emergency rescue work in Moxi Town, quickly discussed and formulated an emergency response plan. By pressurizing the water intake pipes that are still in operation, disinfection and water production were restored. Yesterday, several resettlement points in the town also connected the clean tap water of the water plant.
"After the resettlement site achieves emergency water supply, the next step is to gradually restore normal water supply to important units and buildings identified as safe." Hu Yujun, leader of the Suining Water Conservancy Water Supply Rescue Team, said that although today is the Mid-Autumn Festival, the working group composed of the rescue team and local water conservancy departments are constantly investigating the buildings and water supply pipelines in Moxi Town. "Until the water supply in the resettlement site and town safety areas are basically stable, we will not consider going home for the time being!"

According to the relevant person in charge of the Water Supply Department of the Sichuan Rural Water Conservancy Center, as of 16:00 on September 9, the "9.5" Luding earthquake caused a total of 192 water supply projects in Ganzi Prefecture and Ya'an County 56, and 83,963 people had difficulty drinking water. Yesterday, 33,423 people have been restored through emergency pipeline facilities, 36,829 people have been transferred to resettlement sites, 11,160 people have been temporarily used for temporary water use by extending pipelines and new water sources, and 2,551 people have been temporarily used for temporary water use by delivering water (bottled water).
