After the end of the "15-inch and above large subwoofer horizontal evaluation activity", the magazine soon received the newly launched 10-inch subwoofer MiniMe DSP P10 from the earthquake. Although this is our first meeting, when discussing the tuning of subwoofer with Aiwei technicians before, the other party took DSP P12 as an example. When it comes to low frequency management through the intelligent control APP that comes with the subwoofer, it can solve the standing wave problem quite efficiently, which makes me curious about this series of subwoofers and the APP that comes with it, and want to know how "efficient" and "intelligent" it is.
After taking out the subwoofer from the packaging box and put it in place, the editors touched the beautiful piano paint shell (left a lot of handprints...), then looked at the Leiming FV15HP in the corner, and couldn't help but sigh: It's really small...especially in our audio-visual room that is nearly 60 square meters.
Take the P10's baffle and you can see a 10-inch active woofer and a 10-inch passive radiator placed back to back on both sides of the box. This sounding method is very common in subwoofers during earthquakes. It is officially called "SLAPS system". The full name is Symmetrically Loaded Audio Passive System. It can play a significant role in improving the low-frequency output sound pressure and increasing the volume sense . This is also the main reason why the MiniMe series can ensure the low-frequency effect while making the box small and exquisite.
Since we talk about SLAPS systems, we might as well mention another patented seismic technology used in P10, namely the TCT (Turbo-Prop Cooling System) turbine cooling system. As the name suggests, this technology is mainly used to enhance the internal hot air circulation during subwoofer operation, so that the unit can continue to remain in a stable and linear state.
According to official data, the maximum output power of the Class D digital amplifier module built in P10 is 600W. Because the mobile phone APP can be used for low frequency management, the back panel of the P10 has removed the traditional PEQ adjustment knob, leaving only the volume and frequency dividing point knob, which looks quite simple, and a small LCD screen is added to display the volume, which looks more intuitive.
There are three modes to choose from: "AUTO", "ON" and "OFF". Select "ON", and the subwoofer will remain on regardless of whether it receives a signal or not. Select "AUTO" and the subwoofer will only turn on when a signal is detected. If the signal disappears after 15 minutes, the subwoofer will automatically enter sleep state. If you accidentally select the "OFF" mode, the subwoofer will remain closed regardless of whether it receives a signal or not
In order to create a space suitable for P10 to play, we also installed a 5.1 small speaker system in one-third of the space in the audio-visual room, put the P10 in it, and follow the convention to walk through the AccuEQ automatic tuning system of Anqiao. Immediately afterwards, we arrived at the most popular link: using mobile APP to perform low-frequency management of P10.
Before this, you have to download the iWoofer or iWoofer Pro APP on your phone. The former is free, while the latter costs 30 yuan to buy it. Both versions can adjust the gain, phase and delay separately, and can also perform subharmonic corrections.
After downloading the APP, you need to turn on the Bluetooth and subwoofer power of your phone. The APP will automatically find the device that can be connected
Click to enter the "Xover" control. You can perform high cut and low cut in the frequency range of 20-500Hz, adjust the attenuation slope, or fine-tune the Q value and sound pressure of a certain double , etc.
Since one is charged and the other is free, the paid version naturally has its advantages. If you look carefully at the main interfaces of the two versions, you will find that iWoofer Pro has an additional "Room Correction Room Correction" option.
Don't be scared by the large English paragraph at the opening. It just reminds you to check the subwoofer switch, don't put it too close to the wall, and adjust the gain to moderate (about 27 or 28). The phone should be as close to the subwoofer as possible
After testing, the system will A dialog box pops up and asks if you want to balance the frequency response curve. If you choose Yes, take the actual measurement situation in our audio-visual room as an example. Blue is the original curve and green is the adjusted curve (it seems to have no change...)
Because it is a near-field test, the factors affected by the room are relatively small. It can be roughly seen that the frequency response characteristics of P10 have a prominent sense of quantity in the frequency band of 75-125Hz, and there are no obvious valleys or concaves within 125Hz.
If you choose No, you will directly enter the selection process of three room compensation modes: Boomy Region, Near Field, and Linear. Note that you should put your phone in the listening position at this time.
According to the official recommendation, it is more appropriate to choose the Boomy Region mode. It will only adjust the mid-frequency band above 70Hz. The low-frequency band can be low-cut and manual EQ processing. In contrast, Linear can make full-frequency adjustments, but accordingly, it is easy to cause excessive total harmonic distortion. The system will give a warning:
Before trying this APP, I have seen the effects of the APP adjusted on the official website, manual and some review articles. The curve is basically straight, such as this:
. What about the curve after the initial adjustment of our audio-visual room? It’s not surprising that this result appears in
. The audio-visual room space is close to 60 square meters. It is easy to cause various acoustic problems by placing a 10-inch subwoofer. It is a bit difficult to make the frequency response curve completely straight when the APP is immediately repaired. Besides, the effect may not be good.
So, the imperfect data does not affect my evaluation of this APP. Among the several subwoofer apps I have come into contact with, iWoofer Pro is the most professional and feature-rich one. Not only does it have the "automatic room correction" function, but the curves before and after adjustment will be fully displayed on the phone, allowing players to understand the situation before and after adjustment and compare them. The PEQ adjustment with 25 frequency doubled and adjustable Q value is also much more refined than the three sets of PEQ adjustments provided by traditional subwoofers. If you have time and are willing to toss, you can make targeted EQ corrections based on the curve to obtain a relatively flat low-frequency response.
There is a connection error in the picture above. You can enter "Options" and click the "Restore factory Settings" option, and then restart. This option can also be used to reset data. If the phone has found the subwoofer and is connected, but the subwoofer does not emit any test sounds when performing "room correction", or there is any "uncontrollable" situation, the best solution is to uninstall the APP and reinstall it...
Finally, let's briefly talk about the sound performance of P10. With such a large space and such a small box, it is not easy to output so much low-frequency volume. What is even more rare is that the low-frequency is not floating or mixed, and it is always in a state of proper control and ease, and the strength and elasticity are also good. In comparison, the speed may be a little slow, but it is also completely acceptable. This is just a simple adjustment effect. It can be imagined that if the P10 is placed in a suitable small and medium-sized space to broadcast movies, it will definitely have an impressive effect!

Because of work, we have come into contact with many subwoofers of different brands, sizes and types. Sometimes we think, what exactly does the subwoofer we want look like? Or what conditions should be met? The Earthquake DSP P10 or MiniMe series just satisfies our imagination of a new generation of subwoofers. The beautiful and exquisite appearance has low-frequency performance that combines both volume and strength. Players no longer need to purchase adjustment instruments. They can directly use the mobile phone dedicated APP to perform low-frequency management and adjustment, so that the subwoofer can be competent for different usage environments.
