In mid-May, Itazu opened a Twitter account to specifically introduce how the "Joker Game" Endcard was produced. In the previous article, we learned about the explanation of the Endcard of Chapters 1 to 3. In the next article, we will continue to analyze the rest of the explanation of Chapters 4 to 12.
The scene of the fourth episode Endcard is Hirokoji Ueno. From left, Odagiri, Fukumoto, and Tasaki.
On the right side of the screen is Morinaga Nitan's advertising tower, commonly known as Nitan Tower. It seems that there are also places other than Ueno.
The picture above is a photo of Ueno Park looking towards Hirokoji. Itazu originally wanted to draw a train, but there was no free space in the painting, so he had to give up.
In order to highlight the cold weather, Tasaki on the right is wearing a scarf and looking down at the newspaper. If he didn't tell anyone, no one would be able to recognize him.
The scene of the fifth episode Endcard is Tokyo Station. In the picture are Kaminaga and Minori. To Tokyoites, Tokyo Station needs no introduction at all. In order to compare with the winter last time, the time here is set in summer. In the sketch, there is a car in front of the screen, but it was removed in order to see Tokyo Station more clearly. Anyway, this is a picture I drew to introduce Tokyo Station.
The scene of the sixth episode Endcard is in front of Shibuya Station. From left Odagiri, Minori, Tasaki, Hatano.
This is the composition referenced from the "Great Tokyo Photo Case" introduced earlier. On the left is the station and on the right is the shopping street.
The above picture is a top view of the scene in Endcard.
In front of Shibuya Station in the opposite direction, Itazu’s cat is holding a book to help take photos. The plot in the
picture is that four people were going to Shibuya for something. It suddenly rained and they were running to the station. Odagiri on the left is holding something to be delivered. In addition, connecting everyone's running postures in the order of Minori → Hatano → Odagiri → Tasaki is the original painting of the action of "running".
The scene of the seventh episode’s Endcard is the Imperial Tower in Shinjuku. The place that is now the Marui Main Store houses a dance hall and theater. From the left, Ganli, Miyoshi, and Fukumoto.
The prototype of the D mechanism in "Codename D Organization" is the "Army Nakano School". This scene is the spy "attacking" the dance partner. Since the protagonist of this episode is Amari, I put Sweetheart Mask Amari first.
happened to find Teitosuo while looking for a dance club scene. The appearance of
should be available in "Da Tokyo Photo Book", but I can't find it. There are only photos but no text, which is a big difficulty in using this book. Later, an investigation revealed that a ban on dancing was issued in Showa 15, and the dance hall was sealed off.
In addition, the character in Endcard dances a waltz.
The scene of the eighth episode Endcard is under the Yurakucho Station overpass. The character is Pu Sheng. The content is "Betrayer in the Shadow".
Of course, there is no betrayal plot in the animated feature film, but viewers who have read the original work should know about Kamao's betrayal. What I painted is the scene after the secret conversation. I originally wanted to include the other person in the secret conversation into the picture, but it would make the composition crowded and the meaning unclear, so I gave up in the end.
is inspired by the picture above.
The scene of the endcard of episode 9 is the Japanese Bridge. The characters are Miyoshi, Minori and Yurikamome. Itazu reflected on whether he had made Minori smaller.
Speaking of famous places in Tokyo, Nipponbashi is definitely unavoidable. Artists have painted many Japanese bridges since ancient times.
If the panoramic view of the bridge was included, the characters would appear very small, so I chose this composition. Viewed from above, the street lights are also included in the frame. Now that the road has been changed to a highway, such an effect can no longer be photographed.
The scene of the tenth episode Endcard is Ichidani. From Zuo Fukumoto, Kaminaga, Odagiri, Amari.
In the picture, the agents and soldiers of Agency D are walking in opposite directions. At the same time, compared with the neat army queue, the protagonists have no rules at all. Everyone walks at will, which just highlights the difference in status.
In the far background of the screen is the Army Sergeant School in Ichigayadai. It turned out that the picture was the same as above, but the photo was from the Meiji period. Later, Seiichi Shiraito, the examiner, helped to correct it. This location is now the Ministry of Defense.
Odagiri's walking posture is drawn very easily, and it feels like I have seen it before somewhere.
Later I found out that it was "The King of Fighters 2000", a game Itazu played when he was 20 years old. Itazu also took this opportunity to lament that the arcade moves such as Metal Slug and Street Fighter that he played in the past were very cool.
The scene of the endcard of episode 11 is Hibiya Park. Kamo and Miyoshi.
originally wanted to draw Miyoshi alone, but the supervisor came up with the idea of sitting another person behind the chair. Because it was back-to-back, there was no need for someone with a good relationship, so Pu Sheng, who had a low appearance rate, was asked to play. In the world view of the animation, it seems that the two met by chance.
The left side of the picture is the Grand Court of Justice.
On the right is the Justice Bureau. The Justice Bureau remains as an important cultural property.
The scene of the Endcard of the twelfth episode is Kanda Manseibashi Station. From the left, Kaminaga, Minori, Tasaki, Amari, Miyoshi, Fukumoto, Odagiri, Hatano, and Yuuki.
Since this is the last episode, I decided to draw all the characters into the picture. But it was not interesting to simply draw it, so Itazu finally decided to challenge "not to let anyone's face appear", which was consistent with the identity of a spy. It is also very rare for animation copyrights to be drawn without faces.
So I drew the reflection of the character in the water. The content is that after Yuuki sent his subordinates away near the station, he walked back alone. It's very easy to identify Yuuki because you can identify him by drawing the cane.
Since the Greater East Asia Cultural Association is in Kanda, I decided to place the last one near Jimbocho in Kanda.
The background in the reflection is difficult to distinguish due to reflection and characters, so Itazu deliberately extracted the scenery. As above. On the left are the bronze statues of Colonel Hirose and Sugino Hōcho, and on the right is Manseibashi Station.
This ends the explanation, and the next part is over.
